Borg Warner S256 with Bullseye Power exhaust side to bolt up to stock manifold (this is what EMS offers for there kits)

Borg Warner 50 trim with the same exhaust side and available through EMS as well.

S256 is the cleaner one with the borg warner writing on the compressor side

There is so much more to a turbo than the overall size. You'll know more about flow by the size but the better comparison photos would be of the wheels in the turbos, since that pretty much determines how the thing works. The larger housings just allow the turbo to potentially flow more, the size of the wheels and the relative diameters of the inducer/exducer are going to give you more insight into what the turbo can do.

Yeah i thought about taking the compressor housings off to show the difference as well but was too lazy lol. You can have two VERY different turbos that look basically identical.

yeah, I had my ATS CT27 rebuild recently. After talking to the guy about it he showed me the differences in the wheel from the stock stuff and its really the perfect example. Looks like a CT26, its in the same housings but has a T04E 46 trim inducer and I think the exducer was a 56 trim or something like that.

Case and point, stock CT26 at 17 lbs makes a little over 200 from what I've been told if that. The CT27 made 262whp and 268wtq @17.5 psi.... with a full stock exhaust WITH a cat.

In the case that you have a turbo which has aftermarket trust bearings, you can start upgrading to a 360 deg thrust bearing (meaning there is a full circle of bearing surface) you can easily put a 50 or larger trim wheel and have the exhaust side clipped and make stupid top end power. Turbos are so much more complicated then most people realize

CT26 vs. GT2871R

The GT28 is about 7,7lb lighter than the CT26. Together with stainless steel header, downpipe and 100cpsi cat approx. 33 lbs can be saved compared to stock cast iron parts.

You are correct sir! The 86.5-92 Supra's came with single ct-26's here in the states. The 91-92 JDM Supra came with a 1jzgte twin turbo using ct12b's as well... iirc. Then the 93-98 USDM Supra was either 2jzge or 2jzgte twin turbo (Same block, cranks, rods). JDM got them until 2002, the lucky bastards.

Speaking of which... I need a new ct26 for my 7m to last until the 2jz build is done...

/Thread Jack Done/

But this thread is definitely giving me a good idea on what way to go on the sizing for my 3s motor and what weight savings I'd possibly get. Thanks guys!

*Yes, I know. Zombie thread revival...*

Precision 5557E Billet w/ DSM housing

My new turbo setup.

Precision Billet 5557E compressor w/ DSM exhaust housing setup. Internally gated, adapter, exhaust, wastegate actuator designed and built by me.

It is sitting next to CT20B for comparison.

How does it work? We'll see shortly. Going on my Gen 3 powered racecar which has Power FC, ATS valvesprings, ARP headstuds and Forged pistons.
