I'd rather not have to worry about a cable breaking, or when the cable is on it's way out it makes the needle shake (really annoying). Plus they are usually slightly inaccurate.

if your not using stock sized rims/tires, it will never be accurate.

I just hate when it's loose that it makes the needle wiggle, it makes me feel like the car is a pos. Trivial I know, but still it bothers me, I'm a huge perfectionist, you prolly won't understand.

By the way can't you compensate the guage itself to read the proper mph if you have bigger wheels?

Gen3 swap DONE!!

Yeah what I though was like 45 ended up being around 60ish. I paced one of my friends once I got it working and it was pretty dead on with his car the way it is now. The only thing I don't like is the damn 120MPH speed cut. It only cuts in when you have the speedo working, and trust me you can tell your going way faster than 120 when its not working.

Related question
I have a '93 NA 2.2 manual, and my speed sensor has died. It did so when I got stuck on a snow bank, so I'm assuming I stripped the shaft gear. There is a gear shaft from a '91 for sale on Ebay.....
Would that shaft fit in my electronic speed sensor? Does anyone on here have a spare electronic speed sensor laying around, unused? Also looking for a tachometer to replace the one in my '93. I hate to buy a cluster just for a tach, but I need to get the tach and speedo working (only parts on car NOT working.....argh)... Rick |

A couple months back I had a 93 JDM 3sgte lsd swapped in my 91 na...I had bought the clip off the shop that I used to have it done..... For awhile I was driving around not knowing the speed because I had a mechanical gauge cluster.. I had just bought an electrical gauge cluster that came with pig tails but the the connectors that I have in the car are to big for the new electrical gauge cluster..My question is how do I go about to using the pigtails that came with the new electrical gauge cluster I had purchased. Any help would be much appreciated

Speedo
Might U consider buying a GPS unit?
That might solve the LEGAL requirement of having a speedo. Also checkout the MPGUINO Gas gauge, Tachometer, Speedometer, Fuel consumption meter.... Might take some engineering to make it work in an older car that does NOT have a functional speed sensor. Kerry |

Swap in a 93+ dash harness?
That would seem like the only way to me, I doubt it's just that easy though. |
