91 mr2 turbo/JDM gen3 swap help

Hi,
As soon as my fuel pump arrives i"ll have my JDM gen3 engine and related parts delivered. I'm wondering if there's any tips, how-to or information out there on swapping a jdm gen3 into a 91 mr2 turbo?
I can only seem to find jdm gen3 into 91 N/A mr2's...
any help is appreciated...
thanks in advance!

I am planning on doing the same swap when my Gen2 dies. Anyone have detailed info on what exactly is required for the swap? Pinouts etc?

I haven't seen to much info on doin a 91 turbo to gen3 swap, but if you have any questions that are universal for just doing a gen3 swap I'd be glad to share anything I can with you. Just shot me a PM.

I would imagine the NA swap would be more difficult.

How to 3SGTE gen 2 to Gen 3 convertion
That website was a good starting point for me because I had to use the gen2 turbo harness.

im thinking of a gen 3 clip too, but was also thinking of getting the gen 2 with the ATS combo kit because i already have intake, intercooler, dp and exhaust i could just swap over. As far as price it would be little more expensive but i dont want to loose my parts. What do you think?

i did a 92t to genIII swap. i could probably help out anyone with questions on this swap.

first piece of advice, get the entire effing clip (yes, the whole freggin thing) it will save you copious amounts of money in the long run. for starters here's what you NEED: genIII engine, tranny, ecu, engine harness, MAP sensor, MAT sensor, IAT, coil and ignitor. if you are changing from a non-lsd tranny to an lsd tranny, make sure yo uget the stubs and half shafts. it's always a good idea to get the body harness as well, though it can be repinned with a little bit of patience. if yo uare going from mech speedo to the electric speedo, make sure you have the three wire pigtail for the mech speedo cable that way yo ucan still use your exisisting guage cluster. if you opt for the new genIII electric guage cluster, then make sure everything you have is compatable with the electric sendor and cluster. it's always a good idea to replace your fuel pump, clutch, and upgrade to the ATS or CRW axles if you are going to go for some decent power. i personally haven't had any problems with my stock 92t fuel pump, but i wish i would've changed it to the walbro while the engine was out. for any other questions, comments, or concerns, feel free to ask.

edit: fwiw, i paid $3200 shipped for my engine, tranny, and ecu. then spent an additional $1500 on the other parts i needed to make my car run right. I was actually running genII electronics for the longest time uuntil i realised i was being a freggin idiot with a genII ecu controlling the 540cc injectors! (not reccomended btw)

Please tell me more about this. I'm planning to do the swap, but use my existing speedometer.

Was it so that the speedo drivegear from my old tranny won't fit to the gen3 tranny? Where I can get the pigtail?

I have no cruise. So... will the mech drive fit to 3rd gen gearbox?

Background to my question: One of my friends has swapped LSD gearbog to his '91 SW22 turbo and his speedo is not connected. I understood that the old mech speedo drive won't fit to new gearbox.

Man you guys are wasting boatloads of money on gen3 motors. I picked mine up fro $1850 with everything I needed and I could get more if I wanted since I got it from a local importer.

Mech drive will fit 93+ turbo trans. Without speedo hooked up it will throw code. Electronics for ecu is on speedo in dash. Pull electronic piece off trans, slide mech piece in hook up cable and your ready to go. The pieces that you need are for 91 92 turbo trans

if your talking about the 3rd gen 3sgte then theres some info about it in this mr2.com and mr2oc.com. the info i found on the forums helped me do my 3rd gen 3sgte to 91t swap using 3rd gen engine harness and 91t body harness. its not all that hard to do.
