How is that SARD? Where can I buy one? I need one with a CAT for my Gen III is it even worth bothering?

If you have to have a Cat, then the SARD is really your only option. Compared to the stock Cat, I feel that it is head and shoulders above. No comparison. Spool is great, response is great. Your car just feels like it just had a massive sinus conjestion removed. I can't compare to a straight pipe, since I've never had one before, but I am more than happy with my Sard downpipe+cat.
My wallet was in great pain for a while though. You can buy them from Japan. I can help you get one easily, or if you have other friends in Japan they should be able to easily call up SuperAutobacs or Sard themselves, and order one too (assuming their Japanese is sufficient). My email is vaeth_fv@yahoo.co.jp if you want to contact me about getting one. --V |

Awesome, do you have a ballpark price range? I am required to have a Catalytic Converter. I have my V-Max Center Exit Exhaust in place with Stock DP. I want an aftermarket DP but I have to have a cat also. Is this one that goes in the B-Pipe or will it work with a DP? Or is it a DP in itself? I guess it's the latter, but I'm not quite awake so I will let a possibly dumb question slip. I feel that my stock DP/CAT has now become a restriction. That Sard looks beautiful!

For a Gen III, the SARD cat completely replaces the downpipe.
Ball park price is about $820. And that's just for the item itself. Shipping to you will depend on how heavy it is and whether you choose 3-day EMS or 6-week surface mail. I can't remember exactly how heavy it was, but say it's 7kg: EMS would be $95 and Surface would be $45. As I mentioned above, your wallet will be hating you for a long time. --V Edit: In case you haven't seen it, here's my review on the SARD downpipe: Product Review: Sard Downpipe + High Flow Catalytic Converter |

The Gen 2 one is a fair bit cheaper. About $600 for the cat itself. Shipping might be cheaper too since I guess it'd be lighter.

i've got the KO racing DP on my mr2, and I love it. Great fit, sounds good, nice welding job. Pain in the *** to put these things on though
. I just pulled the exhaust mani with turbo on it out to do the job... All went well, didn't even have to bend the oil pipes. It is definitely a 4 hour job though.ed |

I hate to keep bumping up old threads, but in case some people on here don't know. Paul at JPAutoworks makes VERY nice downpipes. To date, he is the only one i can recall that sells a divoced dp setup for the stock turbo flange (but if you provide the turbo, he can fabricate any downpipe for you with the same type of quality actually).
here is a pic of one of his divorced setups: He builds these per order so there is some lead time (~3-4weeks) and they run close to $400. He also makes traditional, non-divorced setups as well for $300. |

^ actually, last i checked with paul, he no longer offers to make the divorced setup anymore. isn't very cost effective with the amount of work/time he has to put into each he said.
