Yes it is (Celica and Caldinas), but they pipe them in to the stock coolant system of the car which I redesigned and made mine use its own system and pump (methanol+water), 28ft of hose, and a huge heat exchanger in the front of the car. I can go out boosting for hours and you can open the engine lid and my IC, tb, and manifold are still ice cold. It is by far the best IC set up I have used to date. It is a lot more work to put on ,but well worth it!!!!

Speedfactor is now closed, so no more intercoolers from them.

I would personnaly go with the Berk Technology intercooler. If you have the money though, a spearco/apexi/phoenix power cored intercooler is most definately the best intercooler money can buy.

Check out the product feedback section and read what people have to say about each intercooler, Its the best way to find opinions on each setup. (there are buttons on each intercooler setup for a quick link)

Is the ARC cooler considered a significant improvement over stock? I don't see it being used often.

The reason you don't see it being used much is the price for it brand new, its outrageous. ARC though makes high quality parts, i have never seen anything come from there shop that is less than perfect.

In fact, i think they use the same core for the intercooler setup as phoenix power.

Yes, the IC is very rare in itself. ARC seems to be on another level as far as pricing is concerned, much like turbohoses products. Their products cater to a different crowd that are willing to pay top dollar for something they believe is quality craftsmanship.

Anyways...the ARC core is not the same as the pheonix power core. The Garage Fukui core is the same as the one used in the Apex kits. I forget the dimensions off hand, but in size, they'd be similar to the Greddy cores. Larger volume...smaller surface area relative to the ARC core.

I recently bought one of the ebay intercoolers and it no longer comes with the 90 and 45 degree pipe bend. They ship them with 45 degree and 90 degree couplers instead. From what I learned tonight the couplers were supposed to be similar to the long couplers you might find through Samco to make up the length differences. However, they put in regular size Turbonetics style 3 ply couplers that were so short in length that the intercooler piping essentially did not fit properly without the couplers. In the mean time I trimmed the stock coupler to fit for the back pipe and used some other couplers I had to make up the length for the intercooler ~ throttle body. You get what you pay for, that's for sure, but even with a little extra foot work I still think it's worth the money saved since the intercooler combined with Bedell's shroud is well made and a great start.

That's retarded, I think they found a way to make a cheap kit even cheaper to sell. I'd prefer harpipes for any bend in the IC system, even if it meant a couple extra straight couplers.

There is some variation in the cheapo kits from what I've seen. To me, to KO pipes look the best for the core. I haven't really seen any good reason NOT to use a Chinese Greddy-Style core.
