hard to do with the kit sitting in a box on a fedex truck ..
and mr2gq is working out some problems with his intercooler piping, and still breaking in his new motor .. but as soon as i get the kit hooked up and the local dyno's have a dyno day, me and mr2gq will get the kit dynod on two different 91 mr2 turbo's (we live 30mins away from each other) |

i agree with you 100% .. theres no point in seeing if the $440 ssac kit is any good since everyone has allready bought it and put a review up ..

You keep saying "better than your $2200 turbo kit" and then talk about how you'll show us once it's on. I don't care if it holds up after 4000 miles, and I don't care if you put down decent dyno numbers when you go to the dyno a month or 2 after you get it. Go to the drag strip, beat on it with passes down the strip every weekend, drive it on the street like it was meant to be driven. The fact of the matter is your $440 SSAC kit won't hold up to that abuse. A good quality turbo kit like one from KO Racing WILL hold up. It will hold up on the strip over the long haul, and the street. It'll be the last turbo kit you have to buy. They are designed and made with all that in mind. Kris doesn't just take an off the shelf turbo. He takes them apart and modifies them to his specs, they are not just off the shelf GT28/30/35 or T3/T4's. Like with every part of his kit, the turbos are NOT just off the shelf...there is a reason they cost more. The whole kit start to finish is designed from the ground up to be quality, hold up and for performance. The were designed by someone with the understanding of engineering and flow dynamics. You can't say the same for the SSAC kit. It uses an off the shelf turbo, a cheap one at that, the welds are crap, and that's the start. I don't care if 5000 miles later you say "told you so." Come back to me after a season of hard street driving and abuse at the strip. The SSAC kit just won't hold up to that, it won't hold up pass after pass to the track abuse. A good kit like KO will. That's the difference. You get what you pay for.

well i never said the ssac kit is BETTER than the ko kit, but whatever you want to say to argue ..
and i dont need a turbo kit to race every weekend or crap, i wanted a replacement for my daily driver and im not paying 1/3 of what the car is worth for a damn turbo .. |

Hmmm if I recall I seen people on here complaining about the oil lines that come with the KO kit leaking. Every kit has there problems. Oh and none said they was wanting this kit to use at the race track and beat the balls off it. As adrian said we was using it just to get the car going and if it works well then great. I dont know about you but I damn sure aint got hte money for has to go the the track every weekend and beat the balls off it everyday. dont know if you noticed but gas it about 4$ a gallon now

Adrain, I posted that because you and your SSAC buddies kept talking about how you'll see if it's "just as good as the $2200 kits." For several pages you've been saying we'll finally see if it's "just as good." Look, buy it, break it...whatever...it's your car, if you want to put that POS kit on it go ahead. I just got sick of hearing you were going to show us it was "just as good." because the fact is it is not. If you want to see if it's "just as good" you have to treat it the same way...and the fact is it won't hold up to the abuse and treatment that the good kits can. If you don't believe that you are just sticking your head in the sand.
mr2gq, no kidding gas is near $4 a gallon...everyone knows that. I drive my car daily also...maybe some of you don't like to have fun with your cars because of that...but some of us still do. |

b/c its finally gonna prove if the ssac mr2 turbo kit is any good since NO ONE has bought / tested it ..
im about to post the pics in a couple minutes, and as mr2magic requested i am going to post up a step by step install with pictures .. i believe mekkafire started a similar thread and had a "problems" list, but if i understand correctly he passed away (and possibly never installed the kit) the only thing on his list was you have to clock the turbo compressor housing around which isnt hard to do .. one complaint i found about other kits was the flanges on the header being warped, but mine is VERY slightly warped .. not even enough to consider taking it to a machine shop, bolting it up should straighten it up though .. |
