The "kit" should include everything needed to bolt it onto an MR2, except for the tools used to install it. Please keep a running record of every additional expense you go to in order to adapt this product to your MR2. Then we can get an idea of the true cost of this product.

I saw in another thread that the oil line is too long...perhaps it's because SSAC has never test fit the thing on an actual MR2?

A 3 foot oil line? That shows how much went into that kit. LMFAO.

Good luck with your kit. I cant wait to see results!

the only things needed to fit the kit to a mr2 are the following:

1) 18mm to 6an fitting
(kit includes fitting for the oil sensor hole, but i wanted to hook it up to the stock location)

2)6an to 4an fitting
(couldnt find a 18mm to 4an, 4an is the size of the oil line included in the kit)

3)90* intake elbow

4) two 3" connectors (rubber hose with two clamps)

all coming to a total of around $35 ..

so the grand total so far is $475 .. and im pretty sure i got everything to install the kit now (except for timing parts, but that has nothing to do with the ssac turbo kit)

dude, its a oil cooler and line .. see they thought of that before putting it in the kit ..

but seriously, the "turbo accessories" kit i got with the turbo kit is not made for any specific car .. its a universal kit with a ton of adapters, fitings, hoses, etc

another way to make the kit cheaper, since they dont have to spend money on making a "mr2 oil line" kit .. plus, its only a $25 part if you want a shorter one from summit

ok, its been a few days .. but im almost ready to start putting the kit in later today or tommorow ..

had to put all new timing parts on, and fix the two metal lines going into the waterpump (they were leaking at the gasket / o ring)

almost done with those two things, and i got everything layed out for the turbo ready to go in ..

im not going to turn it up to 20psi and see if i can blow the kit in the first 5 minutes ..

i drive 100 miles a day and need the car for college, so turning the kit into scrap metal is the last thing i want to do

so untill i got the money for a new motor and a name brand turbo kit dont plan on me testing the maximum capabilities of the kit untill then ..

unless anyone wants to give me a new motor and turbo, then we can run the $hit out of it untill it pops, but i doubt anyone is up for that

Stock boost is 11PSI, you plan to run 8. Apparently you don't think your kit is capable of stock reliability?

I apologize for thread jacking a little but if someone could explain this to me I would appreciate it.

(preface - I do not mean this as an attack on your set up)

The t3/t4 kit will increase power due to the increase in air volume when boosting. You said you are running stock ECU and fuel control and say that it will be O'kay to run stock or lower than stock boost because you are not exceeding the stock psi. Psi (pounds per square inch) != (not equal) volume. I am under the assumption that because the ECU will believe that you are still running the CT26 when the T3/T4 turbo is boosting it will be adding more air to the engine than is expected, despite being at the same Psi rating.

I am just worried about you leaning out and your engine going pop.

nodla .. you hit the damn nail on the head ..

.......................

there are two reasons im not going to run more than 8 psi right away ..

1) i dont have a boost controller, or fcd .. and the wastegate comes with a 8 psi spring, but it wont be long untill i get them

2) as nodla said, the t3/t4 is a lot bigger than the stock ct26, therefore if i turn the turbo up too much im going to lean the crap out of the motor and pop it ..

so as soon as i get some more $$$ .. then ill get me on of those safc things, boost gauge, fcd, and boost controller ..get some dyno time and then get the fuel sorted out, and turn the psi up

I'm looking at this entire thing as "hp per dollar". A stock ct26 rebuild costs like $400-$500. You got this kit for about that much. If it makes more power (which I'm sure it will off the 8psi wastegate), than it's a winner. If it makes more hp after the appropriate mods and last atleast a season of daily use- even better!

... cheap, fast, reliability. Maybe we can have it all this time? haha

is 8psi on a t3/t4 = 11ish psi on a ct26 (air volume that is)

Will you consider engine repairs due to catastrophic failure in your $/hp calculation?

haha, damn .. mr2gq was telling me that it felt like that ..

sounds good to me ..

my friend said he has a t3/t4 garrett turbo lying around, he doesnt know $hit about anything so he only wants $50 for it .. if it is actually a garrett t3/t4 that isnt trash then i might pick it up and keep it as a back up ..

almost got the two metal pipes off .. my distributor wires (underneath, there 4 or 5 small ones on the harness) are covered in oil and all freyed ..

anyone know how to fix it, is there a seal in the distributor that goes out? .. i hope i can get a new pigtail b/c it looks like mine is screwed ..
