^+1 I'm with sang on this one. Sorry Adrian don't take it personally but I can remember way back when - you were all over this kit and promising dynos, numbers and tests left, right and center. Then you started debating whether to sell your two, then you started telling us that it feels good and runs well, then you started rethinking selling the car, then you decided your camaro has to be rebuilt first. All respect to you personally, what you do is your business The fact remains - this thread has mutated from a promise to deliver real testing to a thread about how 'good' this kit feels based on adrians, farvarica and mr2gq's backsides! Sorry guys that's not good enough to a) warrant this thread anymore and b) change the majority opinion of the kit in all probability being as crap as the rest of the stuff they sell.

My advice: Kill this thread until one of the three finally does something worth mentioning´with this kit. They can then open a new thread!

Me, I'm pissed off reading the same old **** from everyone

I think they should just delete the 20 + pages of crap and leave what I have put up as installation of the kit, and updates up to where I am now

was planning on selling my camaro, and building the mr2 .. but things change, and college is more important right now than finding a job just to dump a bunch of money into a car which will just be sold for a loss in the future

I will get #'s .. but untiill I do it will just be countless pages of people saying the kit is junk .. they got nothing else to say

the reason I keep thinking of selling my two is because one day it runs awsome, drives good, and is fun to drive .. and other days its so bad I'd rather walk

my two needs a rebuild, the damn thing has 150K miles on it and everyone wants me to push 25psi through it .. and once I can afford to rebuild it, then I WILL throw as much boost through it as possible, and get the dyno #'s

for now, chill everyone ..

got 6240 miles on the kit and its still running nicely ... but the bov is a hunk of crap .. works good, but opens / closes at idle for some reason

.................................................. .....................

even if the kit doesnt even come close to stock #'s I could care less .. I just got it as a replacement b/c I didn't want anymore bull$hit dealings with buying stuff off people on this forum, artur was one of them .. was going to buy a used ct26 .. bastard told me he sent the parts, then two weeks later gave me a refund b/c he sold the parts to someone else

I got a built camaro if I want to go fast, the mr2 is just for daily use right now .. dont feel like blowing it up untill I have a backup motor ready (then I will blow the $hit up, or try to )

I agree :-)

the great thing either way is that we all had a chance to chat lol!

we will get these numbers and i am down with holding off till next season to get those numbers. maybe we can PM one another in regards to progress.

UPDATE: i got my slave cylinder in the mail yesterday, so hopefully everything goes ok there and i can actually get the car back to my garage.

happy boosting everyone and sit tight.

I've been around since before KO Racing existed (I helped start it) and there has NEVER been an interference problem with the wastegate on their CT series down pipes.

My comments were a generalization, and anytime you make one of those, there will be exceptions.

So basically, you have the kit because you decided to "be different", but you still haven't published any concrete test results. Please get your hydraulic situation taken care of, and get your car on the dyno!

Best regards,

Quite possibly because you installed this kit.

150k miles might warrant a rebuild on the Camaro, but there is no reason to rebuild a 3SGTE just because of the odometer reading. Hyde had almost 200k miles on the stock motor when Jeff bought it, and he raced for two seasons, and made over 400WHP on that engine.

The BOV is the likely cause of the inconsistency, as I posted above.

So the BOV is crap, and the wastegate fell off. So far this kit is LESS RELIABLE than a stock/used CT26.

FYI, a CT26 rebuild with a compressor upgrade from Performance Techniques is $450. People have safely run those to 15 or 16 PSI on the stock fuel system, making more power than your SSAC kit. Mine was at 45k miles when I removed it to go with a bigger turbo. It was still within factory tolerances, and did not need a rebuild yet.

what the hell happened to my email updates ..

as for my mr2 .. ive come to the conclusion the bov is SHIIIIIIIIT .. throw it away and nobody buy it

I put another washer in it the other day and it ran amazing for about 50 miles, then I guess the spring got flimsy again and now it runs like before .. lopey idle (opens / closes at idle)

so as soon as I get done painting my camaro (within a month) then I'll get me a good bov and see how it runs then

I also need to get a new tvis vsv .. got a new vacuum tank, but my vsv broke when I took it off a long time ago .. that may contribute to some of my cars "mood" .. just got a vacuum line hooked from the manifold to the tvis actuator right now

the camaro engine was rebuilt b/c I blew the intake (and / or head) gaskets at 120,000 miles .. basically drove the hell out of the car since I only paid $1500 for it .. plus you can drive them without even looking out the windshield, just gotta look the the side windows

the mr2, I get a slight knocking noise right now that increases with rpm's .. and sometimes its more noticeable .. so im probably going to tear down my spare motor and see how good it looks inside (its supposed to only have 8000 miles on the internals)

I understand one guy may have had 200K on his motor, but not every motor is the same .. why did my chevy motor blow up at 120K and my friends has over 200K and runs like new (original miles)

theres so many variables that could lessen the life of a motor ..

driver
oil changes
spark plugs
fuel used
coolant flushed / replaced on time
distilled water or tap water used in coolant (damage to block)
etc

ok .. this bov is pissing me off

guess the best thing is to go back with the stock bpv ..

if anyone has one they will sell me (need everything to hook it up like the hot pipe too)

my car didnt come with it, so I dont know whats involved putting it back on

also .. my car has egr block offs .. would that make any difference to performance?

and if anyone has the vsv for the tvis, lemme know how much you want for it

EGR block offs won't affect performance at all. Stock BPV is probably best, in your case.

You could just disconnect the TVIS. It's "normally open", so the car will run fine with it disabled.

+1

the stock bpv is the best and hassle free. search the board, there is always someone selling the hotpipe with the BOV. if you cant find one, another alternate solution is to switch your flange for an hks ssqv as this is also a puller type valve.

got home from college today .. right as I pulled into my driveway and pulled the parking brake .. 155,000 miles

that means there 7K miles on the ssac kit .. and its still runnin good

last night I changed the oil, unplugged the tvis, unplugged the tvis vsv wire, and unplugged the turbo vsv wire (wasnt hooked up anyways)

since then the top end is ALOT better .. guess my tvis wasnt opening sometimes with the vacuum line hooked directly to the intake

took a video last night, should have it up within a couple hours

got a stock hot pipe from the2ndr, so now I just need a bpv or a good bov and adapter

might be getting a boost controller from the2ndr pretty soon .. so might have that hooked up next week (or this weekend) and turn it up to 12 psi

heres a video I took .. damn youtube made it black, took it at night but you used to be able to see the gauges

basically turned right, then reved it to about 5(ish) for each gear .. gives an idea what it sounds like .. did 0 - 60 in about 6 seconds on 6 - 8 psi

the first 4 seconds are me rolling up to the stop sign / starting to turn .. then I got on it, wasnt full throttle .. probably about 3/4 or slightly more .. sounded good last night

tried to get that grinding noise on video but the camera wouldnt pick it up ..

the camera is moving around b/c my dang turn signal didnt cancel out .. but If you can put the video in full screen, you can make out the gauges

Hey adrian, if your WG still isnt holding boost to 8psi all the way to readline then i would not up the boost if i were you. it seems that these WG are good to hold a steady 1 bar on our setups however that may be too much for our stock fueling.

i would rec that you switch out to a larger v-banded WG like a 44mm or larger or wait to do the needed fuel mods and rom tune.

its holding up to about 5k rpm .. If I boost it to 12psi, it doesnt have to open and release as much air .. therefore it would be better to raise it to 12psi or so

the stock fuel will be fine .. if not, i'll hit the fuel cut or blow up the motor

once my camaro is done, im going to pull the mr2 motor and rebuild it .. allready got new 3sgte internals, and ats valve springs from that motor I bought from the2ndr

is that at WOT?

My point is that I dont believe the WG is large/efficient enough to scavenge the needed amount of exhaust gases from the turbine to stop creep. I ran this only on the WG and have gone towards readline multiple times in 3rd and 4th gear with my eye on my boost gauge and it hits 10-12psi every time before i have to let off, going into 4th just gets worse, it will hit 1 bar and beyond i am sure if you are not careful.

anyways, it will pull like a bat out of hell and its a completely different sensation as opposed to the stock unit as it wont fall on its face beyond 5600rpm.

hahah .. I will have my boost gauge and watch it carefully .. I doubt if I'll ever get to wot in 4th gear .. dont really take it over the speed limit, and traffic gets in the way

I love my 6 psi, waiting till I feel 12 psi from this turbo .. I'm waiting to see how soon it hits 12psi

maybe later on once I get a new motor in, I can get a standalone, cams, good intercooler .. then we'll see what these "crap" turbos put out

got 7000 miles out of it, so if it blows up tommorow I dont care .. i'll probably get a name brand t3/t4 turbo .. but its not showing any signs that its about to go .. so we'll see how long it lasts

ok .. got a boost controller (same as the twosrus one)

paid $35 for it from the2ndr .. not bad considering there $50 new

might get it on tommorow and see how it goes at 10psi at first .. then up to 12 if all is good
