just turned it up a tad bit before putting it on .. and its hitting about 10psi of boost in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd (havent gone much more than that yet)

feels really nice and strong compared to before ..

and the bov seems to like it alot more too

are you at WOT and are you pushing it to redline in 3rd. if not, you wont notice whether it is spiking on you or not.

not yet .. I only drove about a mile down the road and back .. and the 45 mph speed limit sucks ..

haha .. but i'll get some more testing done later, and wind it out to see if it spikes or not ..

may have to get a better boost gauge, I got a parts store vacuum / pressure gauge .. works allright .. but it tends to make some weird noises since its so big and the needle moves so fast

drove it to college and back (and to another college to pick up an application) ...

I like it alot .. seems to hold it just under 10 psi at redline in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and in a load on 4th and 5th (havent taken to redline in those gears, dont need any tickets)

I'd say that boost controller made night and day difference .. its alot less noisy since the wastegate doesnt open pre-maturely .. and the bov and wastegate sound ALOT better when they open now ..

now my second gear pull is feeling alot (if not a tad bit more) like the stock turbo .. sets you in the seat really nicely .. but then again my wastegate wasnt bolted down on my stock turbo .. so have no clue if it didnt open or jammed shut and I was running more than 12psi .. who knows .. we'll just have to wait till I get to a dyno

do ya'll think I should keep it safe at 10psi for now (remember its a bigger turbo, and spools up faster) .. or would it be allright to try out 12psi

everything is stock except exhaust and air filter (similar to apexi)

camaro is coming along just fine .. might be the end of the month before its done .. then hopefully I can get to a dyno before I go on vacation in december .. then start the new college in january if everything goes right

First off, how fast a turbo spools has no bearing on how much peak boost you can safely run.

Secondly, "spools up faster" than what? You have a full T4 turbo with a T3 turbine flange on a stock VE 2 liter. With that same turbo, Andrew McGibbon was reaching 200 RWTQ around 4500RPM, IMS. That is almost 2000RPM slower than my CT26 with a 46 trim compressor:

To answer your question, you are PROBABLY safe to run 12PSI, but the only way to know for sure is to put it on a dyno with a wideband and check.

Ive been getting on it today some .. seems to hold 9 - 10 psi all the way to redline

as for "spools up faster" .. I meant that it spools up faster now that it has the boost controller on it

it will hit 6psi by about 3500 rpm in "daily" driving .. or when Im not getting on it

got 7800 miles on the kit .. still running good and strong

but my suspension is starting to get annoying .. right now it feels as if there is no suspension at all, the front stut tops are busted (keep clunking) .. and the suspension sqeeks like crazy when I put it up on the lift

if I wasnt throwing all my money into my camaro right now, then I'd get me a new suspension .. who knows, might run into some money and have a chance to do it soon

yep .. its people like you that have killed this thread .. it would only be about 5 pages long if it werent for the million comments saying "this kit is crap and doesnt work" or "it may work, but doesnt make any power" or "this thread should RIP"

go ahead and kill it, I could care less .. my kit is still working after 7800 miles and will get the power numbers whenever I take my camaro to get tuned in a month or two

It would only be five pages long if it wasn't filled with this

It's not people like me that killed this thread. It's just that it's not interesting anymore. It started with a big hype and now that we know you got 7,000+ miles without it falling apart (completely) it's just not that interesting.

Plus if you don't want comments like "you are not providing us any numbers and etc so how should we believe you" Then the thread would be filled 5 pages with you talking alone.

You misunderstood. What i meant to say it's that your point was proven and the kit didn't blow up at 200 miles that's all.

Wow adrian you have taken a beating. I have been reading the posts on this forum for about a year....and in all that time I have never seen this sticky. I wish all the BS was removed bc it took some time for me to read from the beginning. I went through the whole 38 pages, and it seemed like this. Update, then 10 useless posts....an update, and more useless posts. It got old quick, it really wasn't needed. Most of the people who had something negative to say (in speculation mostly) could have left it as stated once, not repeated 10+ times. Well the reason I created a name was for the purpose of posting in the thread. My girlfriend has a similar setup on her 5SFE (5SFTE as the celcia crowd calls it) and she has had fantastic results. She has been running her setup for about 2 years now. She currently has her car tuned at 16 psi for the past few months, and it is great....no problems. She had it at 11psi before that.

Here is pic of the setup she went with. As you can see she built her own turbo setup. But she used the same SSAC turbo you went with. This is why I am posting. And yes the wastegate with this flange DOES hit the oil filter but there is no need to cry about it? Pics show why in next pic.

She had a Oil filter relocation done on here car, problem solved.

Just a pic of where the filter is currently placed.

This is the old dyno sheet at 11 psi. Kinda small I know, but 240whp and 273ftlbs

Here is a video of that run.
Video of shannons 5sfte powered celica @ 11psi - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Here is a pic of the intake and some of the plumbing just to show the rest of the kit.

Here is the most recent run at 16 psi. I will see if my friend can send the dyno run of her run overlaid onto his run. Both of the cars are identical in the fact they are both celica with 98+ 5sfe's, same boost, same injectors, FMIC, etc., the only difference is the turbo/setup. He is running a ct27 at 16 psi and makes 240whp and 275ftlbs. So yes, dyno results prove that these turbos will make more power at the same PSI. And no spool is not a killer, nothing like a t88 LOLOLOLOLOL whoever said that. This setup spools 600rpms later than our friends with the ct27. So when Adrian finally gets to the dyno, I would expect him to see the same results in spool, considering all factors being the same and just changing turbos. He went from a CT26/CT20B to a 57trim t3.

And for those who have further question plz feel free to ask, and if you have time I highly recommend reading this...I mean if I can take the time to read 38 pages of this, im sure you take the time to read 11 pages of this information (and it doesn't have as much useless crap floating around either so you wont be so bored reading it as I was)

haha .. someone thanked me for that .. haha .. anyways

was driving my mr2 around today .. noticed my wastegate started opening around 8 psi

so when I got home I turned the boost controller up a little .. maybe 1/2 to a full turn ..

took my brother to the parts store, and WOOOOAH .. it spools crazy fast, and pegs 10psi instantly .. kept it safe and shifted at 10psi
(not sure what rpm it was, but no more than 3500 to 4000 b/c I was short shifting like crazy)

a guy in some integra wanted to see what it would do, so pulled out of the parts store and hit 35 mpg crazy fast .. haha, he was WAY back there .. so I gotta turn it back down b/c my boost guage doesnt go over 10psi and dont want to blow it up even though it feels really good right now

think I might have a boost leak sometimes b/c my gauge needle vibrates sometimes and I get a noise out of the engine bay when it does it .. so gotta check that out too

1) big deal
2) learn how to spell thread
3) I'm 130lbs and 18 .. try and kick my a$$ through a computer

as for jim .. HELL YES .. now alot of people will have to find another reason to say the kit is crap

umm .. umm .. "well the wastegate fell off" .. if I pay $2000 for a turbo, the wastegate wont fall off .. OOOHHHHHH

haha

I will get dyno's as soon as I can .. but right now I'm busting butt trying to get my camaro done .. only a couple weeks of college left and I'm nowhere near done

drove my mr2 today and the damn turbo spools crazy quick .. it hit 10psi at 3000 rpm at one point coming off of a stop light .. and feels really strong on the highway

havent taken it past 4K rpm with the boost turned up b/c it starts to go over 10psi and my gauge doesnt go that high .. so as soon as I get a better boost gauge I'll take it to redline at about 12psi and see how it feels .. right now it's feeling stronger than stock

and if mine is similar to those dyno's, then I'm correct by saying that .. b/c I am running about 10-11 psi right now ..
