It took me a while to read this whole thread. Good stuff so far. You should do a condensed thread of a step by step and all materials and all costs needed for putting this kit in a duece. You have most of the info on this thread, but seriously this thread is way too long. Dont worry about most of the nay sayers. These forums are a bit different from tercel/paseo/honda forums, there people hope for the best and will give you their two cents and might recommend against your idea but will wish you best of luck and try to help you with any problems you might run into. Here most people hope for you to fail just so their non researched ignorant post is right. It's even worse in the supra forums. Seems like the more expensive the car the more that people are dicks in the forums. I wouldnt put this in my 91 duece cuz once its all said and done I rather not risk blowing the motor by blowing the turbo since I drive like an ass, but I would be willing to throw this kit in a mkI mr2 build i wanna do in the future.

They are way different because people here at least say what they really think. In those other forums people sugarcoat their opinion. Telling somebody "it might work, good luck" is not advice.

It's like somebody saying "I will try to put a Fram oil filter on my deuce to test it out" and people going "Oh go for it man, Good luck" when obviously the damn thing is bound to fail.

and i can't believe u actually read 40 full pages. lol I would have given up in the first 10

Oh right, so in the month you've been here you've managed to deduce that most people here hope for others to fail just so their post is right. You know something? That view is so short sighted you make Mr Magoo look like the ****ing hubble telescope!

Your post reeks of fail and if you would take the time to actually get to know the people who are of a different opinion you might just realise they know a thing or two!!

No-one is pissing on adrians leg!! All we want is for the thread to contain some real information on this kit and not quote 'xxxx miles and still going strong'. Adrian knows this and will try to post numbers as soon as possible.

That is all!

hey mr2magic .. "8500 miles and still going strong"

I'll get the numbers as soon as I get to a dyno with my camaro .. got it running on all 8 cyl. again today .. the plugs were gummed up, the tune is way far off for this cold weather and its dumping fuel into it .. so as soon as she is painted, its off to the dyno

whilst im there I'll get the mr2 #'s

.........................

more recent news .. MY FUEL CUT WORKS

the mr2 pissed me off one cold morning when I filled it up, hit my head on the roof getting out and then the door got in a fight with me ..so I took it all the way to redline when I left the gas station

pulled hard as hell and fast through 1st, 2nd, then as soon as I hit 3rd gear .. BAMN .. it really is like you hit a wall .. got to 45 really quickly

thought my engine blew up untill I saw the check engine light .. haha ..

iirc isnt 12psi the fuel cut on 91 turbo mr2's ???

oh ok .. thats what I was thinking

I hit the cut every now and then, so I'll turn the controller back down a tad so I can atleast take it to redline without killing it

tonight my speedo stopped working .. AGAIN .. so when It cools down I'll see how much this is gonna cost (hoping something just came loose and nothing broke .. but its never as easy as that is it?)

I hope the piece that goes in the tranny isnt broken, b/c I bought that from my toyota dealer last year for my 89 for around $300 (I know, I got raped) .. if that is broken after 8000 miles then I am going to be pissed and yell at someone at the dealer .. I still got the receipt, so that will be going back if it broke

looked at my mr2 friday morning, unscrewed the cable off of the transmission to see if the cable broke or the piece that goes in the tranny broke

the rear cable broke near the tranny, seems like some water or something got in there and rusted it a little

so called my local toyota dealer expecting to hear some rediculous price like $150 for a rear cable ..

ended up being $60 .. so it will be in on monday morning, untill then I'll just have to use my garmin gps to tell me how fast im going

Hey, interesting thread. Its kinda ridiculous how people were shooting down the product like crazy in the beginning, but not too many people bad mouthing now. It was hell to read through -_- But cool stuff! I think I might just get this set up...(either this or a gt35... gt35> t3/t4 but if it saves me 2k, why not?) When are you getting to the dyno? The suspense is killing me!!

It's all been said, why repeat it? Nothing has really changed. There are still no results, other than a bunch of miles getting logged at lower than stock boost/power with several unexpected failures of various kit components.

that kit will prolly last a while on stock boost, and im sure he doesn't intend on going more than that. but unlike me for example. i'd wanna push it as far as the fuel system can go cause i love Horsepower.

i think, then you will see the limits of that SSAuto/Chinese Turbo. that thing might fly apart at 15 to 16 psi

WTF!?! That's like saying: "I think I might get a Yugo. Either a Yugo, or a Ferrari."[/QUOTE]

HAHA a yugo..thats like on the top 10 worst cars list..well if I could get a yugo thats pushin 300 hp why not? (And I know thats really unlikely I'm trying to make a figurative connection here)
I was going for the gt35 setup, but putting on that whole kit would probably be at least 9x times more expensive than this kit. And at some point you start wondering "how much money am I gonna put into my car?" Then you realize you could have invested the money smarter..

Speaking of yugo's, you could never judge a book by its cover. Just cos something isn't known for performing above par (the ssautochrome products as well) doesn't mean they can't be made to do so. I found this interesting video on youtube:
BMW m3 smg vs yugo, supposedly turbo'd

As for results, Im still eagerly awaiting them, so Im not supporting the autochrome kit (nor yugo's )

[Pardon my threadjack]

Maybe it's just me but i like to do things right, put good parts in a good car, this is how a strong sport car community is made. This is why many hondas out there are ricers, because they just stick whatever they could find in ebay. I don't see TT Supras putting SSAC on their car (Except for the N/As cuz they got no more options) but i rather get something that costs more, it's proven, and I know it has a god damn warranty.

I rather get an exotic Ferrari than a Yugo pushing 1000HP (Figurative speech of course)

SSAutochrome doesn't provide any warranty at all?

No, and they have the worst costumer service.

Just found this...
you guys might wanna take a look at it. If you want.
It got tests comparing the quality of the knock-off SSAC turbo vs an Authentic manufacturer

DON

EDIT: It also got customer feedbacks for both XSPOWER and SSAC.

He will be near the stock limits of the injectors between 10-12psi on his GEN2 3sgte. So without supporting fuel mods, your done.

My gf was running 11psi for almost about 7-8 months, and for the past 4-5 months she has been pushing 16psi on her daily driver.

I saw that damn "glued turbo" website WAAAAAY before buying the kit .. and it has been posted in this thread a million times .. I love how this argument repeats itself every 10 pages

got my speedo cable in monday, no more slop in my speedo now

as for the #'s .. my camaro wont be done untill january 09 (christmas break starts next week from college) .. so I'll more than likely get some dyno numbers around late january / early february

got a really good paint guy coming in the mail (christmas present ) .. so should have some spare cash from side jobs coming in soon

The only difference is that they compare an authentic turbo and a SSAC, they actually have stone cold proof. Not tooth fairy assumptions.
