The Joe P Pro-Z MBC is a nice MBC. I'm going to be picking one of them up soon. In your picture, did you mount it on the front engine firewall? That's kind of what it looks like in the picture. |

Yes. I just reused one of the bolt holes for the stock airbox and used a longer bolt.
Also, be careful when tightening down the MBC to the bracket...I snapped the head off one of the small socket cap bolts that is supplied easily. |

Wastegate spring mods come to mind, as well as ghetto things like disabling the wastegate and using your foot.
I've never noticed a performance difference between electronic and manual. I did notice that EBC's are by far more difficult to set up and more prone to equipment failure, although the failure rate seems to be quite low. The good old regulator (ball and spring) style mbc's are simple, cheap, and pretty much bullet proof. I personally cannot justify spending the amount of money for an ebc for a display I don't need in my dash and a couple of bells and whistles, but if I did spend that kind of money on an ebc, I'm sure I would fit into the "placebo effect" category. ![]() |

saab APC.
it's an electronic boost module in all turbo saabs from mid 80's to mid 90's. uses a pressure sensor, an ignition coil input, a knock sensor input and a couple other inputs to control boost. both boost level and boost rise curve are adjustable. if it detects knock, it cuts boost back until knock goes away. it also grounds one of the unused pins, which can be connected to an LED to blink when knock is detected. |

Test it out and see. Use quick taps to wire in the FCD to create a parallel circuit in the PIM. Use throttle modulation and a boost gauge to see if the FCD worked. If it didn't, then now you know you have to cut the wires and wire in the FCD in-line the PIM circuit to lower voltage output.

Thanks sang
Project LED FCD has died! The guy I bought it from prolly stored it in his garage - the trimmer was 80% rust and totally useless so I threw the POS away. I would really like something along the lines of the turbosmart FCD 2 but it's way expensive :-( |

FCDs are very simple boards. Paying for expensive ones seem pointless to me. Contact David at twosrus.com to see if he goes int'l shipping to germany and if it'll be worthwhile cost-wise to do so. TB Developments has FCDs too IIRC and they are located in the UK so hopefully shipping would be cheaper that way. And if you are handy with a soldering iron/gun and have an electrical hobby shop around town, you can always make your own.

I just went from using a TwosRus MBC to an old Greddy Profec B spec EBC and, Wow! Should've done this a long time ago! Seems to build boost quicker and I have total control over the boost from inside the cabin while driving. Not to mention the option of having 2 different boost settings (can use one for 15psi on regular pump and one for higher boost if running race fuel).

thats interesting how people say an electronic one is better, making you boost quicker...............I cant understand how it works. If its a ball/spring MBC then you wont get wastegate creep, and it should operate exactly the same way as an electronic one. Infact it should be best to match a ball and spring valve with a pressure regulator so that you also dont get boost spikes. EBC dont have that built in do they? Theyre just a solenoid adjusted valve.
