What is the prefered boost controller?

Hi guys!

i'm interested in finding out just how the majority control the boost on their 2. Feel free to elaborate on your answer, I am interested in any methods.

I am also in the market for a boost controller. I've decided i want an EBC and am deciding between the (blitz dsbc spec r), the (HKS EVC VI) and (greddy profec b spec II). As the original question asks. What are you guys running and feel free to elaborate. Thanks

MBC's are cheaper, but a good EBC allows you a little more control. You see what boost level you are setting it to on the screen, some of them even double as an electronic boost gauge. If you can afford it, I'd get a good EBC. The guys @ KO Racing use the blitz dsbc spec r a lot, and have a pretty good price on it too.

manual, cheaper works good. Maybe someday I will get a EBC, most likely just the boost solenoid with the AEM.

I've had the EMS powered Pro-z MBC for about 7-8 months with no problems at all. Looks really nice in there too.

MBC for me too. I have had the TwosRus MBC for 6 years now, still holds 14.5psi perfectly.

FWIW I will upgrade to a good EBC When I rebuild my motor & go with a much better turbo. I like the Blitz DSBC. A good EBC will transition boost better & it cockpit adjustable with multiple settings.

But, for a stock gen2 3sgte or even one with a ct20 or ct27 (ATS Racing turbo), the MBC is hard to beat for "bang for your buck."

If you want plain and simple with little adjustments, MBC. If you plan to do a lot of changes on the go, EBC.

Apexi AVC-R, best boost controller on the market!
Although, a very complicated and expensive little unit.

I also had the TwosRus MBC, and I have nothing but good things to say about it.

some ebc's can change boost throught the rpm range, helping the turbo spool quicker. some also have overboost safetys that will defalt your boost to a safe level if it detects a prob.

so if I have an EBC and I set it to say 15psi, will it make 15psi in every gear? or will it change with the different gears like the MBCs?

A good MBC will hold the boost solid at the same level through all gears.

I like my Blitz Dual-SBC Type R, mostly because of the various programmable boost settings.
