Ok I lied,...Heh Heh Heh.....one more question that I thought about while driving yesterday...Ok will the N/A speedometer cable work with the 3SGTE engine??

The cable will work, the cable goes to the speedo gear assembly in the trans.. What im curious to know is because the speedometersthemselves are different, They go higher (160) then the number spacing must be different and how accurate would the non turbo gauge be with a mechanical trubo speedo assembly

The engine itself has nothing to do with the speedo cable.
If you're using you N/A trans then you'll be fine.
If you're using a turbo tans from a 991-92 you'll be fine.
If you're using a trans from a 93+ and have a 91-92 guage cluster (mechanical) then you will need to find a speedo gear and assembly to swap out the 93+ electric one. The speedo gear assembly is interchangable between mechanical and eletrical.

Hopefully that helps better. The cable screws into the assemebly wich is located on the diff housing part of the case.

On a side note, Ben does your car has Power steering?
Your pin out was fabulous, but the "RLY and PSCT" I do believe are backwards. I fought my power steering until I double checked with another pin-out diagram found here.
Just thought I would bring it to your attention. Thank you for the help your thread gave me too. I got my 93+ JDM trubo swap up and running with no major problems.

If you plan on using the body harness and electronic speedo then, yes you do.
If you keep your stock N/A mechanical cable and speedo then no. Youll just need to find a mechanical gear from a 91-92 turbo model.

The difference is that 93+ use electronic guage and sending unit. The signal is passed from the speed sensor to engines harness to the body harness to the guage. Requiring a 93+ guage and body harness.

The 91-92 have the cable and the mechanical speedo gear. Not requiring a new body harness and guage. I chose this route due to budget. It takes some re-wiring of you old harness though like Bens original post is about.

I had a question about the injectors. They don't seem to be working and I think it has something to do with missing the injector resistor. How did you get around this problem. There is definitely spark and I'm getting plenty of fuel, but the injectors are not working. I found the plug that goes to the injector resistors but I am at a loss right now as what to do. Any help is appreciated.

You dont need the resistor pack plugged in when using the N/A harness. Check and make sure your ecu wiring is correct

Actually you *DO* need the resistor pack. The injector resistor pack, that is. The fuel pump resistor is what you do not need.

sbarmann - I'm at work so I can't send any pics. If you go to the attached file at the bottom of my writeup you will see how the fuel pump resistor is physically attached to the injector resistor. It can be easily removed, but again; the injector resistor pack *is* required.

i have a 91 and doing the same swap to the mr2, so do i wire the car up like this

ECU PIN-WIRE COLOR

SPD-PURPLE/WHITE
W-GREEN/WHITE
ELS-PINK/GREEN
BATT-WHITE/RED
+B-(BOTH) BLACK/YELLOW
FC-GREEN/RED

and run the 2 wires in the fues box

I need some help. I'm having trouble understanding one particular aspect of the swap process. I own a '91 NA that was already swapped when I bought it, but I discovered that the wiring was VERY poorly done when the car quit on me on the side of the road.

I will be having the wiring re-done from scratch. I ordered a new ECU wiring harness for a Gen II turbo. Now I need to also source a connector for just the "A" plug? (The pin-outs in the current plug on the car are a mess and are greatly damaged) Will the ECU harness not have the "A" plug as well, just "B" and "C" plugs?

Daniel, those seem to be the correct colors, but it is kinda of hard to tell what your asking, you will need to wire those wires into the appropiate plug on a new plug A for your body harness.

The Turbo Engine harness has the plug B and C. This is why there is no wiring needed on them to plug them into the turbo ECU.
The N/A body harness's plug A is the wrong shape, thats why it needs to be replaced.

Great write-up, it has been very helpful to me so far during my swap. Just wanted to throw this out there... You can buy what looks to be the 22-pin "plug A" for $12 here. They also sell the pins so that you can put wires in the plug. If you go this route you can avoid hacking a perfectly good gen2/gen3 harness to get the plug that you need.
