Exclamation NewB a little info plz.

Hi, guys

Ive searched but run int NA<Turbo threads allday.. but heres whats up!

I just picked up on a 93 Turbo shell. I want to put the 3gen in it and was wondering is it TRULY A DIRECT DROP IN. I plan on just buying the engine, tranny w/LSD, ecu, and wiring harness etc.. you know the set-up you see on ebay all the time. If there is more that I may need I would like to know so I can get my list. If there is something I left off or a thread where this EXACT swap was covered I would appreciate it. Also does a turbo car have a certain Vin#code it starts with to tell the chassis is turbo.

Thanks.

well i found this out the hard way....... if your going to order a motor.. shop around, just dont stick to ebay... google jdm engines and look at all the sites, write down all there info on the motor you want then call 1 by 1 to see what they have instock but tell them you want a rear clip with out the extra body part...... all you want is what comes with a swap + full axles and sepension and see if they would cut you some type of deal......i got my swap for under 2k and it was a gen 3 with lsd plus trc which that swap i would of payed over 2500 which i wont...... but just shop around for da best deal if money is no problem for you........ try to save so you can buy some new toys for your motor.......gl

o and for your question about the drop in........its a pull up swap....lol......its easier to drop the car over the motor than it would be to drop the motor from the top.... if you have all your oil, water lines youll be fine and all your mounts....... but you might have to by a fuel line and some of your water lines if the shell or motor doesnt have them.....just check your shell and compare it to another turbo mr2 which help me cause the set up is almost the same.......make shore your looking at a stock turbo or pick up the book for a mr2 or i can e mail you the book( i think i can) just e mail me @ younghope23@ gmail.com if you want it

From my experience I strongly agree with shopping around a lot before you buy your motor. Email/call the people your buying it from and make sure you know what kinda people your buying from. One tip I have for you though, DO NOT EVER BUY FROM OSAKAJDMMOTORS.COM!!!1!!! Thats the worse customer service EVER, of course thats only once you send them your money. Before that they're all buddy buddy. I got lucky and got a good motor but my trans crapped out in 6 months. Also just go check some other forums about them and they have a big history of bad motors. I've also heard bad things about most other company's in Canada but there are some that are really good. I didn't find them until after I got my gen3 though so I can't stick up for them personally but I've heard good.

Edit: I forgot to answer your oringal question too. Lmao It is basically a drop in as far as the engine bay goes. Can't say the same for the wiring. I went from 91 n/a though so I don't know what your wiring will be like. Everything else just bolts right in place though.
