Gen 3 Tubro/Engine(?) Issue

I have a relatively stock gen 3 swap(car started off as a 92 NA). Only Thing I've fiddled with so far is the exhaust, intercooler, and piping.

My problem started yesterday on my way to work(out of the blue).

Under boost the car bogs down and shakes, and is accompanied by electrical power loss(aftermarket boost gauge resets, and everything else flickers). It only seems to do it when I step on it in 1st or 2nd gear, which leads me to believe that its linked to the PSI. I can't say for sure how much boost, because with the power loss my boost gauge resets. I would venture a guess of over 5 psi but not much more than 10.

Its also been back firing occasionally. Mostly corresponding with a shift, but I had an interesting one yesterday. I was puttering down a side road doing about 15-20 mph. It back fired, rpms dipped, and the check engine light came on for a fraction of a second. It was fine after that. The back fires are pretty subtle other than the one I just described.

It was suggested by a friend that maybe I had water in my gas tank. That didn't make sense to me with the electrical issues, but I'm not all that experienced.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

UPDATE:

I just messed with it some. Whatever is causing it is intermittent. I boosted up to 10 PSI in 1st and it acted fine. Played with it on the way home, no problems.

I don't know. Maybe I am getting condensation in the gas tank. I'll throw some dry gas at it and see what happens.

Sounds like a loose power connection/ground. Or possibly water in the distributor. When I wash out my engine bay, for a while afterward, the car will occasionally bog down under acceleration and miss. Once the water evaporates (It's not that much) the problem goes away.

Problem solved!

Dry gas took care of the sputter. I had a loose connection on the ass end of the positive battery wire, that took care of the power issues.
