Clutch Help!!-

I have a very unusual problem with my 91 sw20 turbo. So my mr2 instantly dies as soon as i press the clutch peddle down. I replaced both the slave and clutch master cylinders. The clutch doesnt slip and the car is still drivable as long as i keep the RPMs up when starting in first or reverse. The engineseemto run very healthy. Also from time to time the peddle will drop the the floor if i shift at higher rpms or loads. but the peddle always comes right back.

I've bled the clutch perfectly. nice new clear brake fluid and no air pockets. i know its bled 100%.

I think it might be a old wore out throw out bearing or pressure plate?

HELP!

Does it die straight away or over a period of time?

It dies straight away once i push the clutch in, in gear or neutral.

I can drive it and the clutch isnt slipping. my coolant and oil levels are good and the car has a fresh tune up with OEM parts.

I was wondering if anyone has ever had a throw out bearing sieze up on a Mr2? My only guess as to why my car dies with the clutch in is because the throw out bearing is seized or damaged and puts alot of resistance on the pressure plate when i shift.

Whats a good price range for a shop to replace the clutch on a sw20? I going to start calling around tomorrow and want a good idea of what to expect.

THANKS.

The mr2 has a switch that checks whether the clutch is depressed before starting the engine. Check all switches and wiring to and from there. I bet you have a short or something.

Keep us informed!
