eBay "complete" 3rd gen engine
Hey! Just looking for some feedback. I'm planning on doing a 3rd gen swap. I've been looking around at some prices, and I have found that they vary a lot! From Chico RaceWorks to eBay, what is the best bang for my buck?
Looking at eBay engines seems really sketch to me. But on the other foot, it looks like a better deal. 2k for everything BUT axles (w/ free shipping on some) vs. $3,500 on up for axels and whatever else is included with a clip. In my brain, I'm thinking, $1,500 for what!? What else is included in a clip that adds up to AT LEAST that much more!? I'll admit, I don't have rich parents, and I don't make sh it! But I've definitely worked my tail off to save enough money for a 3rd gen! I just want SATISFACTION. Has anyone bought an eBay engine? And if so, any advice? TIA: Ian |

I purchased my Black Top from JHOT, (buy it now on EBAY) 16K miles on the engine and transmission, no problems.
They delivered everything in their Ebay pictures, I don't have any complaints. |

Where do they get their clips, and how much does CRW buy them for? They pick them up for about $2,000 - $2,500 and sell them for "$3,750 + shipping"? I want to know what I am paying almost $2,000 extra $$$$ for?
Here's what I think I get for $2,000 extra: -Tail lights? -springs -sway bar -rear brakes -axels -some body panels -and a better warranty/support??? Everything I should already have, with the exception of axels! I can see if you're going from non-turbo to a 3rd gen 3sgte you should get a clip! But if you're going from a 2nd gen to a 3rd gen 3sgte, I shouldn't need the rest of the clip to install and engine/trans/ecu, would I? If I am wrong, let me know exactly why a clip over an engine. Thanks for your feedback! |

Not sure, why not contact them directly?
I got my clip from CRW off of ebay and it's been an excellent motor. Didn't get taillights though. I also seem to remember only paying around 3K out the door for it. |

I DID get an LSD tranny, and I think you will too. I'm not sure if the Gen 3 came with an open diff ever... if they did they're in the minority.
