How are these 3rd gen motors panning out?

Last time I was active on the forums/community 3rd gen motors were extremely rare. I think we had 2 or 3 swaps in the whole of all the forums, and one or 2 of them were 3sge motors.

How have these 3rd gen turbos proven compared to the second gen? IIRC the 2 or 3 cyl on the 2nd gen had problems of running lean and hot and there were theories that changes to the 3rd gen corrected it.

In for the reader's digest.

my gen3 is awsome. Had it for 2+ years auto-x and road race almost every month and its a daily driver. I keep it stock by the way, but it compares to a moded gen2, but no problems so far, just under 1k idle, no smoke no shakes.

and yes you are right, the gen3 corrected all the gen2's problems and gived it more power.

I really like mine... I did my swap 2-3 years ago and there was like at least 3-5 people on here had em.

I love it. Great motor. Smooth, lots of power, very responsive to mods up until around 300 WHP.
