I just found what we ALL need...

...well, maybe not seriously, but it's sweet. I remember a while back, I saw the YouTube video of a super owner doing this, tho his was a bit cooler. As he walked up to the car, it would blink, notifying the owner s/he was in range and it would unlock (or something like that.)

On to the MR2...

my question:
Where the F*** is the write-up!??!!

The only clue he gives is this:
"Keyless push-button start constructed from an 05+ Avalon push-button and a ton of relays/switches/diodes."
Also, his car is an auto, but it should work in a manual as well.

spiffy.

I've always wanted a key-fob type device to sense when I was within 10' or so of the car- or better yet an always-on bluetooth device to lock onto my cellphone...
with that I could build a push button start that only worked if my phone was witin bluetooth range of the car

as for modifying that one, I'm sure if you could pull one it'd be fairly simple to figure it out with a multimeter and some spare time, then a couple relays and you could wire it to mimic the key-based ignition system.
I wouldn't mind trying it, looks fun... but I'm more likely to build a regular pushbutton start with no silly fob to go dead
