Motor installed... Couple Questions

Hey guys, well I finally reinstalled my motor. Weird stuff, though. When I have the AFM plugged in it won't crank over unless I give it some throttle. When I unplug it, It starts, and runs roughly.

All my vacuum lines appear to be good. But, I don't have a downpipe installed at all because it's at the welders getting a kink put in it. Do I have those two sensors just dangling. Is there any vacuum leak tester tools other than a boost guage?

Anyways , compression is 182 across.

Modifications are as follows: Bored .20 over wiseco pistons, machined head, Presicion sc61 t3t4, Wastegate ( with no hoses on the wastegate fittings ) Everything else appears to be firm , no open vacuum ports )

Could the downpipe have anything to do with it? I have no crossmember on with no back mount. Also, I'm sure my system hasn't been fully primed. What do you guys think? Any opinions are appreciated!

Joey.

* Check for boost leaks
* Check the hose between the AFM and the turbo
* Check your mechanical timing (cam/timing belt)
* Check to see if adjusting your distributor (ignition timing) changes anything)
* Check again for boost leaks
* Do you have all the sensors hooked up? O2 sensor, afm, TPS, etc...?

Well, I don't have a downpipe, I'm assuming that would create a boost leak. My mechanical timing is fine. The distributor was lined up perfectly when I installed it, but I will check, Do I just adjust the two bolts securing it? All the sensors are plugged in, but the o2 sensors that are attached to the downpipe are just dangling because I don't have a downpipe installed.
