Swap identification: LSD and cut harness?
A two-parter: I bought a Gen 2 3sgte to replace my 5sfe. Its clearly a 93+ engine, given the intake shape. My question is about the differential. I searched all over for identification threads, but none of them have working pics anymore. It seems if there's a bar across the tunnel, its supposed to have LSD. Is this the bar I'm looking for?
![]() Also, I noticed that the "complete" harness was cut just under the fuse box. I can't tell if I can just replace the clips with my existing 5S (I will be installing a new fuel pump if it matters) or if I need to rewire this thing. ![]() And lastly, I didn't get much piping before the turbo. So I can't tell if this "JDM" engine needs an AFM or something else. Pretty sure its and AFM, but as the seller listed this as a 91 I want to make sure. ![]() Thanks for any help you can give! |

Still not sure on the harness, but I can confirm that the picture of the E153 transmission with a thick bar across the inside where the axles go indeed indicates a stock LSD. But only an E153 LSD can be confirmed this way.
If you're searching this thread years from now and the pictures expired, look at where you shove the axles in. If you see all the way through ( ), non-LSD. If you see a bar (\), that's LSD. |
