Testing Walbro 255

Got a 255 pump and I want to test it before installing the tank to avoid doing the job twice. Can I hook the pump straight to a battery on my bench or will there be a blown Walbro afterwards from too much amperage in the battery?

That's certainly one way but the bench battery is much easier if it is safe for the pump.

I hooked it straight to a battery (used a fuse inline of course) and you don't want it to pump with no fuel so we put it in some mineral spirits. Easiest way to do it, but smart of you to test becauase my first one was bad.
