No boost.. help

This could possibly be the worst week of my life, everything seems to be going wrong but here it goes.

I was planning to go down to night wars tonight to race, so was just getting my car ready

ct20b
el'cheapo chinese stainless manifold
el'cheapo downpipe

Got my exhaust mounts and downpipe bracket welded up today, looks awesome. Did an oil change. Went to to pick up my helmet and on the way there hit some boost (15 psi for around 3-4 seconds on the motorway) After the this bit of spirited driving, there was no boost most It could manage was 1-2 psi
So I pulled over hoping it was something small like a loose vac hose or i.c piping

- Checked every single hose that could have come loose, nothing.

- No leaks or anything, checkd the compressor wheel it feels fine
- Could a dead ebc solenoid wouldn't cause this?

- Pumped some air into the hose going to the wastegate actuator, seems to be closing and opening fine, guess won't be able to tell for sure until the downpipe is off

- Guy at the shop seems to think a bit of the cheap chinese manifold broke off and has broken the exhaust wheel on the turbo

Getting the downpipe off tomorrow so will know for sure then, any other possibilities on what it could be?

could you have hit boost cut and went into limp mode?

I had built a supra for a kid that we had put aftermarket manifold and downpipe on and it ran beautifully, for a week. then 1-2 lbs of boost. I am not sure on yours but on his the upgrades melted his cat.

1. check again.

2. see above.

3. depends on how it fails. it would either allow only wastegate spring boost (dont know what it is on this car. most likely around 8-10 psi) or it would allow full boost with no control.
4. take the actuator rod off the arm and make sure the flapper moves freely.

5. possible but unlikely. though it is more likely you have a bad exhaust leak between the turbine and the head.

prob your cheap exhaust manifold cracked. Check for that and also get the downpipe off and see if the actuator is stuck open or the arm has came off.

No exhaust leaks. It happend quite suddenly

The downpipe support bracket caused the downpipe to sit at a different angle, so I assume the wastegate is stuck open hopefully this is the case

If I had an exhaust leak that led me to have 0 boost I would be able to hear it right?

I have seen debris shatter an exhaust wheel before, if everything you checked is fine, that would be my guess.

If my exhaust wheel was shattered though, would there be any boost? If I put my foot flat I still get 2-3 psi

And it runs reaaally rich if I do this

There still could be some boost depending on how many fins are left.

I agree fully with VR4 about pressure testing especially if its a revision 2 with an air flow meter. Also have you checked the recirc/blowoff sometimes they can break or stick also how is it running at idle. If its an airflow metered engine and there is a boost leak it will cause to run rough/rich, if you are running a factory blowoff valve check that especially if you are running higher boost, I had the diaphram burst on mine so check whatever valve you are using for sticking components and if its not the valve definetly do a pressure check to see if you have a split hose or coupler or even a damaged intercooler core

Yeah checked the stock BOV working fine. Pulled the downpipe off yesterday looks like the exhaust wheel is missing some fins a piece of debris did the damage

So getting rebuilt with steel shaft. Will probably swap back to the stock manifold as well....
