help please cel 17 or 7

I just got my 2 back on the the road after a year and a half gathering dust in the garage

Runs good but after about 40 miles highway cruising check engine light comes on

When checked 7 fast 1 slow blinks I think is 71 something with egr

I have jdm engine with usdm harnesses and ecu

What can I do to keep light from coming on

I also have jdm ecu but car won't start with it and fuel pump won't shut off anyone know how to make jdm ecu work?

During the time that the car wasn't on the road, where you performing the JDM engine swap? Asked another way, was your car running with the same set up prior to the down time without throwing any CEL codes?

Do you have an EGR on the car and associated EGR gas temperature sensor? I'm presuming you have reviewed pages FI-67 & FI-84 in the BGB. Perhaps the ECU is looking for a signal from the EGR gas temperature sensor which is not being transmitted.

Not the most helpful, but an attempt nonetheless.

It is a non turbo car I did have it running with swap a year ago for about 3 weeks(long story) and it did the same thing I have egt sensor but its not hooked up . I don't see a place to plug it in . I thought only jdm had egt and it was only displayed on gauge not used by ecu. Anyone know for sure?

I don't have access to bgb only have internet access on my phone .

I have other small issues but the cel is what bugs me I hate to run a motor I just spent a lot of time building with the cel on

Should I plug in a dummy egr valve(unhooked to intake) since I don't have egr provision? I also don't have intake air temp sensor plugged in? I don't have int fan hooked up or engine lid fans

Will do some searching for what that code means . I was hoping someone ran into this before

Pk today I went to junkyard. Egt that comp is looking for is attached to egr valve so picked up valve and sensor. Plugged in sensor but not connected to anything. If light still comes on I will try putting sensor in exhaust and extend wire to plug.
