GT2860RS vs ct20b

Ok heres the scoop. I just picked up a 3rd gen swap for my mr2, which already has a 2nd gen turbo with a slightly used GT28RS. Now I was orignaly planing to just move the GT20RS over to the Gen3 but I was told the Ct20b will perform better. I am not doubting this statement just want more info (Hard data) on the ct20b. But basically my options are use the used ct20b, or use the basically new gt28rs (which I just dished out some serious $$ for not to long ago). Of course if I use the ct20b I will sell the GT28. Before you start flaming me, here are my goals I want to make about 300-350hp and get a pretty fast spool up. Maybe the Ct20b can deliver this too, but will the gt28rs spool faster. will neither turbo ever realize my dreams of 350 hp. I am not gonna by another turbo I already have both of these turbos just wanna keep one.

I will mostly appreciate actual data rather than guesses but if a guess is all you got I'll take it.

Well I just recently made 305 whp, 303 ft/lbs on a cammed built 2.0 on the CT20B at approx. 17 psi. Based upon what I have heard about the GT28RS and some dyno charts I have seen, I would expect it to make slightly more power (on my setup) with the same or mildly better spool. I know for a fact that on SR20s, the 28RS is good for 350 whp...

Both of them are going to perform very similarly. The GT28RS has the advantage of having a metal turbine wheel, whereas the CT20B has a lighter weight ceramic turbine wheel that is more fragile, but should spool up faster.

I'll call you in a few minutes George. Been swamped all morning.

The gt28rs will perform a little better and spool a little faster than the ct20b. I'm not aware of any ct20b that will spool faster than 2900. Both are capable 300whp turbo's on a gen3. The gt28rs would probably make 330whp with the right mods and fuel. The ct20b suffers from shaft flex, and as pointed out has (mostly) a ceramic turbine.
