2009 MR2 Beach Meet in VA Beach

**5/6/2009 **UPDATE** I AM ANNOUNCING THAT THE DATE HAS BEEN CHANGED. I SPOKE WITH THE KARTING PLACE AND THEY HAVE AN EVENT SEEMING LIKE IT IS BOOKED FOR THE SAME DAY FOR MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND. ALSO THE PARK IS GOING TO BE PACKED BEYOND BELIEF AND WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO FIND PLACES TO PARK.** PLEASE REPOST IF YOU ARE STILL ABLE TO MAKE IT.

I have this posted over on the MR2OC. So I will put all the details up here too:

Alright guys, I guess it's that time of year again... and this year I may actually be prepared.

For those of you who did attend last year, the Beach meet was a huge success and everyone who came had a great time. But at the same time, there were a lot of people who complained that they did not know about it, so this time I am going to start planning over a month in advance.

So I have been thinking and I am going to run this by everyone.

Details:

Date: May 30TH, 2009

Location: Virginia Beach, VA (most likely Mount Trashmore for cookout like last year)

Activities:
-Cookout (noonish, this is when everyone can park, pop engine lids, show thier cars, etc.)
-AIK (American Indoor Karting) We did this last year and everyone had a blast. We will cruise over to Portsmouth, VA and everyone can race in the indoor go kart track. This does cost money, last year I believe we got 2 races for $20 or so.
-Party later that night. Last year some people went home and some stayed in VA Beach for the night. Those that stay or are local are welcome to come out and party, location TBD.

Cost:
-Obviously money for go kart racing if you are going to partake.
-Last year the cookout was paid for by Jestible (Miles) and myself (Jimmy), but this year if anyone would like to contribute $5 or so just to cover costs we will be grilling hamburgers and hotdogs, plus there will be drinks and such there.
-Party, there will be select drinks there (for those of age obviously) and if you want anything different, you can pick it up and bring it.

Last year Baktasht from EMSPowered sent me a couple of prizes to hand out and that is what we raced for over at the go karting, not sure if it will happen again this year, but I will possibly mention it.

Side note, for those traveling from out of town, if you wanted to come Friday night or stay Saturday night, we can probably assist in putting a few people up for the night, but not totally sure depending on the number of people. Also, for those that stay Sat. night and are not in a rush to get home sunday, if the weather permits we can hit the beach or something along those lines sunday afternoon.

Below will be the list of interested people in attending. I need to get a rough count so I know how much food I will need to buy and all that happy crap. Last year there were about 20-30 cars there and a bunch of owners. Hopefully we will have a bigger turn out this year.

Please post up if you plan to attend, with your name and what you will be bringing for a vehicle.

Yea I failed to realize it was memorial day weekend that weekend, but I don't know if I could change the dates and people would be cool with it. Plus maybe then people don't have to run home so quick.

Besides, karting is an awesome way to celebrate a bday!!

Check the initial post, date has been changed to be a little more accomodating, PLUS Mt Trashmore will be PACKED on Memorial day weekend. So we have moved it to the 30th. Check the link to the other site, there is a much bigger list of people going and more information. Thanks!

There is another person or 2 coming from Richmond that I know of, but right now it looks like we should have 30-50 cars out there and a bunch more people. Should def. be a good time, as long as the weather isn't terrible.

ya mr2 boi. thanks for getting the word out there. there will be two meets that we be up here. july 18th hooters meet on broad street. you can enter your car and there a lot of categories u can enter. like best ride. best project. there will be a lot! goin on. there will be a swim suit competition, milk drink contest. like other cars will be there but im in the progress of talking to other mr2 owners from the beach are and they will be willing to take the drive up for the hooters meet on july 18.

doors open 10am. but the show doesnt start till 12-4pm. a lot of things will be going on. you will not regret it.

im going to have the mr2 owners to meet up at my shop. so i want to get the whole mr2 crew to roll down. so im sick of tired seeing hondas its time for a change. so if your intrested in comming up ill give you more info on it. ive been able to get already 10 mr2 owners. 10 owners from richmond will be attending. and i got so far atleast 3 from the beach and 1 from maryland to make the drive. so guys if you wanna tag along with the whole group i think it will be fun. so hope to see you guys out there for this amazing meet.
