Minneapolis area car projects
Hey, if any of you guys bringing your cars back from the dead could use another wrench feel free to give me a hollar. If anyone is interested I might be looking for more pairs of hands when I do my 1mz install.

I have had my car for a little over a year.
I got it from dud in Florida. This guy knew nothing about cars he started the swap but then looked like he got mad at it and gave up. The motor was only held in by 2 motor mounts with the wrong bolts, the wiring was a complete hack job and that is the smallest of issues. My boy and I spent this past year fixing the problems someone decided to half ass. The swap and the tlc is almost done with the motor. Just a few more bugs to work out and I will have her on the road. If i need help with anything in the future I will come to you. |

Wow that sounds like a nightmare. I hope he didn't take you to the cleaners on the price.
Good on ya for recovering the car instead of just giving up on it! |

yea its my baby...
the car has put me in debt because when i bought it I had to take out a loan and i really didnt have the income to eve afford the loan but im working hard. I only paid $2750 for the car but it cost alot for me to go get it. 1500 series silverado with a 350 in it doesnt get that great of gas mileage. I think the total i spent on the trip including the price of the car was around $4000. But since i have brought the car back I have put in about $400 not including my rims and tires. |

Which coilovers do you have?
I've done several suspension swaps on MR2s now. |

I just have a used pair that my boyfriend had on his celica.
They are just some universal set...nothing real. Its just for now so i sit lower on my rims, until i can afford a true set of coilovers. I want ksports |

Why mess with it before you have the kit to do it properly? You realize that the spring rates and the damper valving are going to be all wrong for your car, right?

You realize that is basically the textbook definition of bad rice. Don't mean to be insulting, I'm just totally scandalized that you'd use the wrong suspension under your car.

Yea well the cash flow makes it impossible to put the correct suspension under the car.
I guess I can live with being a ricer for now, lol. |

So why not just leave it stock until you can do it right? You realize that the wrong suspension is going to be dangerous in anything approaching athletic driving, right?

You can get stock replacement dampers pretty cheap. Heck, you could get a set of KYB GR2s for ~$160.
Car with the wrong suspension isn't going to be any better than car with bad suspension. |

K ill keep that in mind...i dont want to fight about the suspension anymore...im just doing what the boy says to do. If i try to tell him otherwise he tells me im stupid. Even though I was the master mind behind the wiring harness....grrrr long story
