Calling IRON MAN GROUP!!!! 911 car fix day!
Hey Guys....
I am really getting sick of seeing my piece of sh*t car sit in the gayrodge wasting space. I have been making payments on the car for over a year and have only driven it 2 times. I want to make a date for the whole Iron Man Group to come over and help me get this biotch running. My space in the garage is kind of small but I am sure my mom wont mind if we put her car outside for the day. I dont have many tools to use, if any, because my boyfriend took all of them home. So I would need for you guys to bring the tools to use, I am not sure exactly what we need but i guess all the normal common tools along with a few power tools (read the list of fix-its below to find out what we will need) I am not very good at these things yet so I might just be confused half the time. Anyway here is the list of things that need to be fixed.... FIgure out why my gauge bezel doesnt light up Figure out why my tach and speedo dont work Fix Idle problem Fix misfire problem Fix through out bearing problem or see if it is possible crank walk Fix rpm drop when clutch is pushed in hook up shifter cables correctly Fix ebrake new breaks new wheel bearings exhaust gaskets need to be made for piping need new radiator support figure out why radiator fans are always on figure out why battery is always dead when I go to start it weld up new headlight bracket fix sagging driver door so t tops dont leak (seals were replaced) Figure out if the BPV is working right Fix bumper and turn signals Yea thats about it as far as i can remember. I am guessing we will need a welder, an angle grinder, and a drill....for the power tools...maybe a few more that i forgot. My mom might be kind of creeped out by all the strange men in the garage who are also older then me but eh oh well. I NEED HELP GUYS i want to get this thing on the ROAD NOW!!!!! |

I can probably help out a bit. Please PM me so I can preview the situation - if it looks like air tools are needed we'll have to arrange something haul over my tank & stuff. I don't weld so someone else will need to cover that part.
Lots of the electrical stuff shouldn't be that bad, just slow work with a circuit tester. If you catch me with spare time I can work through those items for you. |

Did you get all the parts before they come there?
Ebrake cables will run you 100, does it not have any hold even if you use it? Brakes 130 with new calipers and rotors speedo if you have to replace it, 150 etc... |

I might stop by for some labor support. Also i can learn a few things he're and there myself. If you really really need a good welder I got a buddy that cannot be beat. He also has his own machine he hauls in his truck. Arch and tig welder. He does it for a living! Better be good at it

Whatever; I was just hoping to take a 2nd look at things in person. A chance to make sure there was a plan and all the needed bits for it would be there.

Mike's idea of developing a plan for the day is an excellent one. Is there anything you know you do or don't have the parts to take care of, 'kitty?

I dont think I really need parts because my ebrake cables are there, i believe they just need to be adjusted, as for the speedo...the thing has been replaced before...it turns but it doesnt show up on the speedo in the guage bezel. you guys will just have to see when you get here...that is the least of my worries right now with the car.
As for air tools i dont believe we will be needing any unless you have a use for them to check for vac leaks, or to check my misfire or whatever IDK. The welder would be nice so i can get my radiator support made, and my headlight mount made. The plan for people to have a set task is nice but it would be fun just to hang out with peeps as well. Whoever can weld that will be their job Whoever is good at aligning doors and windows...that will be their job Whoever is good at fixing a misfire...that will be their job Whoever is good at fixing shifter cables and ebrake cables that will be their job.... I dont care who comes as long as they know their place and what they can give to the car, and they arnt just coming over to get with me.....IM NOT INTERESTED. As for you assbags that are on here to insult me, you need to back off because its guys like you who make the forum an unhappy place to be, and you make the decent guys look like ass bags too. I come on here for the enjoyment of talking with my friends, and in hopes of finding answers for my car problems. This is not MR2 Singles or any other dating website for that matter so take your usless comments, and your dirbag attitude out of the MR2 scene. |

Would you just lay off? Who cares what you think of her sense of humor (or possible lack thereof). Your behavior is just like the lame punks who pull BS and then say "just kidding - that makes it ok right"? And what's with the attitude that a woman can't try to present herself as sexy without loosing your respect? Would you dis your wife or GF if she wanted to be sexy? Or are you just too busy staring at body parts to see women as anything other than noisy blow-up dolls?
Kitty - I know the whole planning thing seems awkward, but I'm just trying to help you get the most out of this effort. Personally I think trying to assign people to tasks for something like this would be silly. What I am afraid will happen is a bunch peeps show up to help, end up getting in each other's way, don't have the parts or tools they need, end up sitting, get bored & leave - all without really accomplishing anything. Getting people to come back a 2nd time after something like that would be much harder. All I want to do is to preview the situation and prevent that kind of a mess from happening. Look at the car, your list, the tools & parts on hand, ask some questions, etc. After all of that we can see were the gaps are and try figure out how to cover them. We could even try to get Chris there if you want, I think he knows what you guys have tried out so far. |

I think we are tryin ta accomlish sometin that we need he're in MN. Since we are a group (The Iron Man group) as Kitty came up with we should group up and help eachother like one. Makes me smile and brings a tear ta my face to see this happenin. I dunno how much of a help ill be bein that I have worked on the basics in vehichles but am not as techinacly advanced as say gairloch, erioshi, and the stig but if you might want some help I can see if I can come . But if not I agree with erioshi how I might be in the way of the pros. But any ways check out my post on a mk1 mr2 that I might be lookin at. Maybee I can get some pointers on if its a good deal or not.
