Oktoberfest Rallycross Elk River, MN October 5th
Oktoberfest Rallycross
Any of you that are looking to have some LEGAL fun in the dirt, come check us out. I ran the last two events with my MR2 and had a blast. What's Rallycross? In basic terms, it's an autocross on an UNPAVED surface. It's sanctioned and insured by SCCA. If you don't know if you want to race, come out and watch. It's free to watch. But I guarantee you'll wish that you would've entered if you come out and watch. That's been the running consensus of people that come out for the first time to watch. If you have any questions, feel fre to post up here or contact me offlist. Here are some pics of the last rallycross from Princeton. Erik D |

That is way cool!
Just so you know; the insurance is there to cover the organizations liability, not to provide any kind of coverage for the drivers. Do you run much rally? |

Yeah, that's exactly what the insurance is for. It's providing liability coverage for the landowner and the organizers.
I don't actually run rally, but I organize the events up in northern MN and help out in MI in october at LSPR. It's coming up october 17th and 18th up in Houghton, MI. I am also the chairperson for this region for the Rallycross program. I'm intertwined all over in the rally community. It is an absolute blast!! |

Have you done anything to your 2 in order to prep it for all this or just run it as it is?

Pretty much run as is. I will need to replace the ailing rear suspension. But of course everything starts to sag after 193,000miles.
I did bolt in an aluminum Kirkey racing seat and 5-point harnesses. Eventually this thing might be getting a full roll cage and full rally prep. But that's only when I have 91T to replace it for daily driving. I think it's funny that alot of people want to drive my car, but only a select few can actually fit in the driver's seat (14" wide seat). If I knew how rare they were, I wouldn't have caniballized my stock driver's seat sliders for the race seat. I have the red and black cloth seats. Ooops!! I still have the cushions, so I could put them onto other seat brackets later on. I just didn't realize how sought after they were. |

That is badass. I'd love to try this. Too bad my car is lowered and has high performance summer tires on it

Only car, yes. My other vehicle is a Jeep Cherokee.
The MR2 sees a lot of track time when it's running ![]() |

I suppose that would get a little tippy. I thought about using my CR-V, but it's not in any state right now to run that hard. Plus I have to save it for working LSPR on October 17th and 18th.
