ITA is Improved Touring A.

Basically, ride height can't be any lower than 5".
+1mm over bore
No excessive porting or polishing.
No excessive decking the block / milling the head.
No gear changes
No drastic suspension changes
Only stock body kits.
15" wheels as a max.
Wheels upto 7" wide but not to stick out beyond the fenders.
Stock fuel cell size.
Minimum weight allowed /w driver.
Stock brake size.

. . .Something like that. . . probably some stuff I am forgetting.

However, 91-92's do have a crisper response in steering than the 93-95's.

Just curious on the reasoning behind the 93.

Hehe... not like I haven't driven a 2 once or twice in my life.

Thanx man, I finally got the winter beater nearly ready for road use. I had to take the exhaust and egay coilovers and blown shocks off and replace them with all OEM parts. So the swap should be starting soon.

He's pretty close, except for the ride height. The rear control arms were lengthened, and the mounting points moved. The rear suspension geometry is superior, and much better at controlling camber changes in a corner. The 91-92 suspension can be retrofitted to the later cars, although I don't know about the legality of it for SCCA purposes. They also have better transmissions, 15" diameter wheels, and the ABS works better. The stock 93 wheels are 8" wide in the back, I wonder if ITA will allow them?

I do not believe the brake information is correct either for NA cars. I believe NA's had the same brake size 91-95. A quick look at napaonline (not the most reliable source) shows reman'd calipers and brake pads are the same part numbers between the two. The information he is siting I believe is in reference to Turbo's. 91-92's had smaller brakes then their 93+ counter parts. In addition, SCCA rules for the MR2's show the MK1's with two disc sizes, and the MK2's with one disc size.

I believe you can fit newer suspension on older cars, not the reverse, according to ITA rules. I do not think they'd imagine someone would want to 'downgrade' or use older suspension. I'll have to double check.

The newer suspension upgrades, tame the driving experience of the car and make it a tad more managable, IMO. However, for agressive driving I think I prefer the older suspension.

8" wide? My memory could be wrong, I believe my 95's front wheels are 6.5" and the rears are 7". Toyota lists option tire size as 205F / 225R. For ITA, I beleive, 15x7" is the largest rim that can be run and your rubber cannot extend beyond the fenders when looking straight down.

Regards,
-C

SCCA in road course? autox? rally?

Hoping for road course.

Eh... and every driver is different in what they like, even if the numbers of the car say they are wrong.

yeah the 93+ na brakes probibly are the same as the 91-92 but the ride hight is lower on 93+.
and the 93+ wheels are 15x6 15x7, same width as 91-92 but with wider tires.

This morning on my way to class, someone swiped the side of my MR2. They only hit the side vent, scratched the **** out of it. I have no idea what happened. They just left too.

I was stopped at the store to get a drink on my way to a Saturday class at the college. I'm so pissed right now, I can't even concentrate. My poor baby. All I want to do is go home, buff and wet-sand what I can out, and go to the paint store to get some paint to fix it...which of course closed at 1pm, when this f'ing class ends.

GRRR...

I'll trade out upholstery work if someone is willing to help me re-paint that part of it, since I am not a painter, I'm an upholstery guy.
