Haha, I just dont want go have to sell my Mustang AutoX wheels. Took forever to find a decent set of wheels that weighed less than 16lbs a corner. Next season Ill probably look into a better tire, but for right now the Falkens work perfect for autocross.

hey everyone, just found a 92 mk2 turbo that had been wrecked with only 26k. I will be picking it up this weekend and am gonna start my turbo swap! Never pulled an engine out of one of these so this will be a great learning experiance and chance to do all of that pain in the @$$ service. Hopefull I will be able to get this swap done in time to get it to the track.
anyway is there gonna be anyone at the shop this friday or saturday? I would like to stop by and say hi and ask some questions to the two guru's. |

So are you parting out the interior on the wrecked 92? If so, any chance I could buy your kick panels/door liners? B) I was kind of hoping to go with John up to the shop this weekend to see it when there are actually MR2's running around. Ive helped with a swap once and my buddy has done it twice, dont know how helpful we could be but if its open Ill try and show up.

Anyone interested in this setup? Vince is currently playing with it trying to see if it will fit in his chassis, but not quite.
Also, as some of you know I just bought a 2002 WRX, and after about 800 miles, I lost some bearings in the tranny, probably in the center diff. Considering I only had the car a week, the dealer has agreed to fix it free of charge, even though I didn't opt for the $3000 2 year warranty. Yay for buying cars from friend's parents! Also, my 72 in a 55 that I got on the way back from Medford (which was complete BS) has been dropped after I spent all day at the Circuit Court down there yesterday. I had to make appeals to like 5 different judges and clerks, but I got it taken care of. $180/month for insurance is a lot better than $370. |

Dylan... we need to work out some sort of deal.... maybe a 3way trade of sorts with Zai.
The header will need some re-working as well as the down pipe.... but I think I want the Turbo... and the MSnS and the injectors. I would like to put the T25 and header on Zai's sisters car. and we then should figure out what 6 your going be able to get for your swap... I'll be down friday night to the shop... work has been hell this week. |

ummm...what swap? we swaping sumthing? how come no one tells me this stuff? trade? i need a turbo, preferably sumthing smaller than the diesel one i have right now and bigger than the lawn mower steve has, hehe. turbo the corolla eh? yeah, she's on vacation right now, think i'd be able to sneak that under the hood of the corolla without her knowing, Heeeee! Of course that would probably grenade the bad bearing in the rear end. I've left the weekend open for the workshop day, but of course I think couple of the guys already have projects they want to work on so we'll see who shows up with what mess, haha. Gettin back to work on Project91, I'm gonna be installing my kill switch and possibly my ignition/switch panel. AND YES THAT FRIGGIN HUGE A$$ TIRE IS GOING TO GO ON THE CAR SO QUIT TELLING ME THAT'S FRIGGIN INSANE! LOL.

Wells, I finally got my kill switch in ( thanks Vince ) and wired up my ignition/switch panel. Of course now I've rendered my key useless except for the doors, which dont have anything in them but outer handle/latch assy. So I guess my key is really useless, haha. On the plus side, everything works great. Now all I have to do is find mounting points for the panels.
My parents came by and told me my POS car is totally useless, LOL. Gotta love the parental support, hehehe. |

The single replacement ring that hastings sent me was the wrong one. They sent me an oil ring when I specifically ordered a top ring. I am having a single piston ringset drop shipped to Tabors Machining from CP. Shipped out yesterday.
I have some ideas on doing some custom gearing for my tranny, but I would like to discuss them with you Zai. This of course would be way down the road, but I would like to put some thoughts on the table for you to ponder... |

I got the donor home sunday, and will be doing some work to get it runing this weekend. I need to swap the wheel hubs so that I dont have to do the barings but the donor has abs and I do not. will it matter if I use the hubs without installing the abs also? anyway will post some pics soon.

Did a whole bunch of research, and this is what I have come up with so far. I posted this on the OC.com already in a pertinent thread, but just in case you don't go there:
Stock E153 Transmission 1st: 3.230 x 4.285 = 13.841 2nd: 1.913 x 4.285 = 8.197 3rd: 1.258 x 4.285 = 5.391 4th: .918 x 4.285 = 3.934 5th: .731 x 4.285 = 3.132 Custom Transmission 3.993 Final Drive from ST185RC 1st Gear from E153 2nd Gear from E153 3rd Gear from ST185 Rally 4th Gear from ST 185 Rally 5th Gear from E350 Scion Transmission 1st: 3.230 x 3.993 = 12.897 2nd: 1.913 x 3.993 = 7.639 3rd: 1.518 x 3.993 = 6.061 4th: 1.258 x 3.993 = 5.023 5th: .775 x 3.993 = 3.095 Wider 1st, slightly wider 2nd, slightly shorter 3rd, shorter 4th, and a slightly wider 5th for cruising. Obviously gearing will be application specific due to increased redlines, but with a theoretical redline of 8600, and power producing all the way up, would this gear set work well? My logic is as follows: 1st and 2nd are longer to apply their torque multiplier for a longer period of time, at the cost of some torque to the ground, but with a gain in traction also. Overall advantage. 3rd and 4th are shorter, creating a greater torque multiplier. Since they are already long gears, and we will be finishing in 4th anyways, why not allow more power to be put to the ground by increasing the torque multiplier? As long as we finish in 4th, this should be advantageous. Sounds like a good way to build a transmission, eh? |

Matt: No it doesn't matter if you dont hook up the ABS if yr car doesn't ahve it.
Paul: Interesting write up. Think there is a link somewhere, maybe Chris would know, were you can apply hp/tq numbers to yr gear ratio's to determine road speed. |

I've already calculated car speed based on tire size, rpm, and gear ratios.
Gear Speed Calculator I would love to punch some stuff into that sick little program you have on your computer... =) |
