Eastern WA club drive 4/19, Pics and vids
UPDATE: Meet Saturday, 4/19 at 10:00am. We will meet at the view point just after the truck scales. Heading towards Lewiston on 95 at the top of the grade, stay in the right lane immediately after the truck scales and follow signs for the scenic viewpoint. We'll be on FRS channel 2.2 if you can't find us, pull into the truck scales and call.
![]() Who's going? 1. Steve - Friday beer (byob) and pizza 2. Duy (Fri?) 3. Martin (Fri?) 4. Matt and friend (sat) 5. Bob (maybe - sat) 6. Lincoln (maybe - sat) _____ Late April when we're pretty sure the snow is done I thought this might be a fun drive to check out. Start out at the Old Spiral Highway lookout, take it to 12 east past Orofino and hit 2 segments of winding road then back track a short distance and split north to Moscow. Start late morning, finish in Moscow at the C'DA pub? [/img]I ran this route recently to check it out and it's pretty damn sweet! Lots of winding roads, good pavement and scenery. It's about 140 miles total (following the above map route) and 3 hours of driving with a few stops so it's perfect for a spring drive. At the higher elevation twisties there are some graveled spots on the roadside from the DOT so the car-beauty freaks can hang back. I charged up and back in the Spyder and it wasn't too bad. Here's a clip of the Old Spiral Highway to get you amped up, another vid of a diff. segment plus a few pics. The weather was bizarre (sun, rain, hail, snow, repeat) so hope that S#!t clears up next month. Oh, and there's a decent digital truck scale right at the route start that does full weight and front/rear distributed weight. I'll buy the driver with the lightest car a beer and the heaviest car a diet coke when we get to the brewery! It's going to rock so long as the weather holds out. I'll post up some pics after the event. I'm out in the middle of nowhere but sometimes people will make the trek over for a good run.

Phenomenal drive today. We had a clear shot at each winding section, very few cars on the road to slow us up - it was great. Some videos (these look similar to the others I posted, but the ground was dry this time!)
I hung back to catch the others on video on the drive to the reservoir Decent weather finally for a run down the famous Old Spiral Highway Nice section up and back - we had snow fall at the top of this segment. |
