so down the road I wont be able to run my Front and Rear TRD braces on the car and I'll be running new rims. the tires on the back will be bald but up front will still be good. If anyone is interested in either let me know. Price depends on how many times you ask me on when my car is getting done though.

We had a quick meeting with the guys from Beat the Heat on saturday at a local cruise in. I figure since most of the guys are off doing family things this weekend, we will prob need to have a shop meeting of the workshop group to decide how Shop Project #1 is going to go. I think Dylan already has some plans for how we are going to organise and prepare for the buildup. I hope the rest of you can pitch in to help the cause.
Steve and I are discussin the engine build. Trying to make it a low to mid 13's car. They want to be able to attract the younger generation and they dont believe that their current car ( Camaro ) has the appeal. Make the car too fast and people wont want to race it. Make it too slow and it would just be a joke. I figure we've got enough spare parts and people to put something decent together. The 5sgte would be a good build and learning process. I know Steve's already checking specs on internals that we could possibly swap. The Beat the Heat guys have a lot of resources that would be available to us also. So let's start the discussion here and get motivated. Or I'm gonna have to do some seriouis *** KICKING. |

Alrighty - we need to know who all is going to be working on the project. We need people who will be devoted, and willing to dish out their time as needed to get things done. Once this project gets started, I would like to do dedicated build days where the project members will show up with the sole purpose of working on the project, and not other stuff. I'm going to start another thread, and it's going to be a roll call - if you want to work on the project, please check in there.

How about a V6 twin turbo mk1? You can use my car.
This sounds like a fun project. Don't forget handling and all that good stuff. |

Sorry Ken, Last I heard you'd popped your motor then sold your deuce (and bought a Supra) - I didn't know if you were still involved with ATS or MR2s, and if they still had any local support. Didn't mean anything personal by it, so my appologies there.
Still my buddy? I was over talking to Bob at Royal, and waitied around for a while since you were going to come by, but I had to get back to work before you showed up. Maybe I'll catcha there on another day.Yep, this Medford meet should be pretty good. We've currently got ATS, KO Racing, Royal Moore Toyota, MR2Board.com, and hopefully a couple others that I haven't worked out all the details with. So Ken, when you gonna get ATS to make some MK1 stuff. I've got a lot of ideas and research if someone... whoever... wants to take the initiative. Last edited by CpuZapper; 07-06-2006 at 01:47 AM.. |

No sweat, I was mostly teasing
![]() The stuff you heard about my personal vehicles is correct. I'm still involved with the group (most of my friends are MR2 nuts) and still running ATS Racing's sales and tech support for them in my spare time, in between being a stay-at-home dad. We just signed up to be a board sponsor today, and have our own sub-forum from the main page now. The main problem with ATS making stuff for the MKI is that nobody at ATS owns a MKI. The other problem is, initial R&D production runs are typically quite costly, and that ends up in the final resale price. MKI's are so inexpensive these days, that many of them are in the hands of people who can barely afford to put gas in the car and properly maintain it, without buying expensive modifications. Ken |

Well, I'm certainly up to my neck in R&D and experimenting with mine. I'm building a fresh GZE to start testing turbo setups on. While I'd agree with your statement of the MK1 being cheap, I'd also argue that because they are cheap, there are a good many more MK1 owners than there are MK2 owners... maybe there are fewer willing to dish out $10k on a turbo setup, but then again with the weight of the MK1 we don't need to make 400hp to have a wonderfully fast platform. If we can get a manifold, downpipe, and intake setup for the MK1 SC to turbo, it would probably sell pretty well, especially if it was bolt on. Like I said, there's a lot of stuff I've tested that I'm not posting, but just throwing it out there. I'm always available for other MR2 owners to ask me MK1 questions, and am always working on some new idea, so I've got a lot on paper, and in my mind.

Texas summers are sure hot! I hope the shop is not too hot to get some progress made on your projects. Just think of winter when we all gather around the propane heaters in the shop afraid to bring the cars in because we dont want to loose heat. That ought to keep you cool. Good news my internship with Honda is going well. I am still working for a dealership too while I am down here. Its actually a Toyota/Honda dealership which makes it awesome. I hope everyones projects are progressing quickly. I think I may have a piece that would fit the beat the heat project. I got that spare 3sgte ECU, if it would be of use I can UPS it up there. If there is anyway I can be involved as far as making a few calls or anything let me know, I think I could get some sponsors out of my body shop contacts and dealership contacts.
Hope all is well, Craig |

wells,.......we had an interesting evening tonight, hehe. I borrowed 4 corner scales. weighed vince's, sethw's, and mine.
Vince: 1600 lbs. wet, with driver. 88 rwhp. so that gives us a 18.18 lbs/hp Sethw: 2517 lbs. dry, with driver. est. 200 rwhp. so that's 12.59 lbs/hp Zai: 2356 lbs. wet, with driver. 198 rwhp. so that's 11.9 lbs/hp we took down numbers for all four corners plus weight distribution percentage so if anyone is interested we have them. granted none of these cars are stock but i think the specs are great to know. Kblake: Nice to see you on the board and posting in the pacnw section! Sorry, I havent gotten around to meeting you, hope to see you in Medford. Hey Zai does your cousin still have his NSX? do you know if it is an NSX, or an NSX T? I have a couple of questions I want to ask him. A guy at my dealership might sell his 94 NSX for a pretty good price.

Wells....car is gone for a few days. My baby is off gettin a backbone, hehe. Lots to do to make it track ready, but.....needs the hoop so I can hard mount my seat. Anyone else going to Medford? Vince prob isn't gonna make it so I guess I'm gonna have to haul my car down there by myself. I wish it wasn't so far away....man that's gonna be a lot of work. Anyhow, this is prob gonna be my best shot at doing some real track testing before the summer is over so i'm just gonna scrap it together. Really need to start logging some meaningful data other than smoking tires, hehe.
Paul? you still alive? And the rest of you get off yr ASSES and post in the " Beat the Heat " thread, haha. |

We all need to pitch in and buy this - I know this car well, and it is fast, stable, and really well built! I'll volunteer to drive if someone wants to co-drive... And it's already here in the PACNW.
http://www.rallyclassified.com/class...hp/listing/284 Holy Crap! James Unger is selling the rally Celica too - Steve should buy this. It's one freaking fast car! http://www.rallyclassified.com/class...hp/listing/171 |
