Calling the Houston Crowd

Ok everyone, I do believe it's time for a Houston MR2 meet. I was thinking something centrally located-ish...richmond/westheimer area, weekend night possibly. I was thinking last weekend in October first in November, meet, greet, and eat, and then a nice little cruise around Houston. Lemme know what ya'll are down for.

hey u just tell me where and i'm there! i am thinking maybe the MarQee center or something. there is always tons of available space in the far corner near feeder road. great place to line up the cars and take some pictures. I think they have a place to get some buffalo wings and shtuff. maybe then starbucks on westiemer n post oak? I know of a great cruise that involves memorial drive towards downtown. There is the thing we call the "Clover Leaf"
we used to take it on our bikes. It consists of four consecutive spiraling turns. kinda resembles a four leaf clover ya know? then maybe downtown and then a full 610 tour of H-Town? i don't know i'm just throwing ideas out there.
I hope we can get about 20 people or so...... that would be awesome!!
i know about 4 MR2 owners that would be happy to attend.

There's also a parking garage on either richmond or westheimer, I'll find out, but it's free and there's pretty much no cars in it at night, and there's rooftop parking which would be good for pics too. How about october 27 or 28? That'll give me enough time to get some sound in my car, life without subs is no good.

Let's say...officially second weekend in November. That'll give me some time to settle into my new job and make a little money in the meanwhile. Officially, November 11, Saturday night. Bring friends, women, etc...

Hi all...I'm from FL, but in Houston on a 6 month contract (software engineer). I have driven a MKI from 1990 to four months ago (can tell you almost anything about the early model), when a jeep smashed my '88 SC (Sophia 8) in St Petersburg. I bought an old Subaru (not a bad car) to get me to my contract and two weeks ago, bought my first MKII ('93 NA - (Sophia 9)). I am currently getting her road ready and hope to have her ready to go by mid-November. I would really like to attend, and hopefully drive Sophia (9), but a lot of work to do yet. Nov 11 is my B-Day, so if anyone wants to bring a gift for my new '2', do feel free... Is it ok to swing by?

Oh, I'm swapping the 18" wheels for OEM stock wheels currently (another 10 days to get the wheels in, order tires, and get them all balanced, mounted, and an alignment) and then I need to put the new '2' in the shop for a timing belt, thermostat, gearoil change, and hopefully tachometer repair. Can anyone here suggest a good mechanic in Houston who has experience with a NA MKII? I have one guy who is way north, but would like to find one a little closer to Stafford. I will go to the one in North Houston if I do not find a good one closer, but as I am working long hours, it would be easier to stay close to home and work. Thanks again, Rick ('93 NA)

By all means, come on by, I'm still working out the details with the whereabouts. Ironically I need to fix the tachometer in mine, it's so wierd it just kinda jumps around and is about 750 rpms off because my car idles between 0-250. As far a mechanics go, the previous owner used Champion Auto, but they're North Houston. As far as your wheels go, lemme get this straight, you getting rid of the 18's and going back to stock? Do you want to keep the 18's, if not how much would you sell them for? Got pics?

Yep...now had three cars with custom wheels and three cars with wheel/tire problems. Fiat X-19, '88 SC, and now a '93 NA. Driving back from Dallas, the car shook pretty badly at speeds above 45 - 50 mph. The front left tire has two bubbles on the inside and the right rear is almost bald on inside half of tread. If not the tires, then the wheels are causing problems, I think. I'll know for sure after factory rims, new tires, and an alignment.

Since I really do not know the condition of the wheels (Koenig Monsoon), I really don't know where to price them. The stock wheels have cost me $240 ($150 + $90 to ship), so if I can cover that, I'd be happy. Before I sold them to another MR2 owner, I'd want them to have the wheels checked. I don't have pics, but will be borrowing a digital camera to take pictures of them and the Subaru in order to post them for sale once the MR2 is up and fully running. Current tire size is 225/40/18 rear & 215/35/18 front.

Oh, what might surprise most is that not only am I going back to stock wheels, but 14" wheels from a '92 model instead of the 15" wheels the car originally sported. I think the engineers were originally right in their tire assesment for the vehicle. Again, until I have everything in place, probably wont know for sure, but...

It'll probably be held around the Westheimer area.

Edit: I'll have an exact time and location by the weekend, unless ya'll have any other suggestions, I know C3LZO mentioned something about the Marquee Center at west loop and I-10, If I can't get around to finding this other location that I like then we'll go ahead and do that.

Alright guys, I have a location finally for the meet. It's gonna be at the Jamba Juice/Starbucks on Westheimer@ Post Oak. I've met here before, plus there's a small parking garage close-by to take pictures and stuff.

Anyhow, here's the address if you wanna mapquest it:

2515 Post Oak Blvd. #A
Houston, TX 77056

Hope to see you all there...this Saturday 11/11/06

Now that is a great question. I figured since it gets dark early we should meet around 7:30 or 8. I'll try and be there early. If anyone gets lost or whatever here's my cell, 8325151280.
