Ticket advice (TX state)

Alright, how irnoic is this? After reading 3sgtepower's thread on how he got a ticket, I just got one as well. I'm stationed in Texas but am still a Cali resident. I admit I was speeding, but the Highway Patrol Trooper said I was going 78 in a 55. What happened was that I was in fifth gear, going sixty (at this point he could not see me) and then I downshifted to fourth, sped up a hill and then shifted back into fifth. I was probably going 75, and then I just took my foot of the gas and cruised in fifth (figuring that the car would slow down on its own). Well then I must have been decreasing from 75 and he was going the opposite way and I see him turn on his lights and turn around and pull me over. He asked me to step out and meet him at his car, which I did. He opened his passenger door and started writing me up (as he copied all of my info). After admitting that I was rather speeding, I very politely asked to see his radar (I do not believe I was going 78!) He said sure and pointed inside his vehicle. After a few seconds I said, "I don't see the speed anywhere" To which he responded, "Oh, you asked to see the radar, and thats it in there." I asked him to see it, put he started talking on his radio. I received from him a sheet of paper that states that 16-20 over results in a fine of $179, and 21-25 over results in 219. Do you guys think I have any chance, or should I just pay the fine and thats it?

Think you are gonna have to pay the fine...especially since most states can legally impound the car and book you for excessive speed if you are going 20 mph over the limit...

I've also read somewhere that in some places you can offer to pay the money to a charity or something like that.

in tx you get 2 tickets that you could write off a year.. one is defensive driving and 2nd is deferal of judification, i think that is how you spell it.. either one your still going to have to pay but it won't go on your record..
