1st Annual MR2 Spring Fling

We figured it was time to organize a solid regional meeting here in FL. We are going to mirror all of the information about this from the message board on FL MR2 Owners Club. It will also be mirrored on other boards as well. I know its taboo to mention the "other" board sometimes but we just want this event to be as successful as possible.

Friday, April 11th:
-Afternoon/Evening - Check in
-Night (6-10:30p) - Drag Racing @ Orlando Speed World, $10 admission, $5 more to race.

Saturday, April 12th:
-9am thru 2am (yes, 2am) - Old Town - Show n Shine, Dinner, Awards & more
The registration price for this event is $15 pre-show and $20 day of. You can prepay using the paypal link on the event homepage listed above. This is to help cover the expenses of the show, awards, shirts and other fees. We are not making money on this event I promise. When it is annouced we will tell you how, when, and who to pay.

-5pm - Awards and dinner banquet at Golden Corral. We will be receiving a 10% discount at the register.

Sunday, April 13th:
Autocross (Price TBD, depends on if we have to get our own insurance or not, it will be annouced shortly)

The Spring Fling website is up! FL MR2 State Meet - Spring 2008 in Orlando, FL

On the page is a sign up form for everyone. PLEASE fill this out if you are intending on going. This way we can get an estimated head count and help plan the events and other things like hotels and food.

We are getting a huge reaction from this. So we are hoping for a large turn out. We cant wait to see everyone in Orlando!!!

Yup should be a very fun time. We've got close to 20 pre-registered already and the full details havent even been planned yet. So we are hoping for quite a few more once the more details are released after our meeting this coming sunday. So if you havent signed up yet, please do. The dates have been annouced! April 11-13, 2008 in Orlando. More details will follow right after the holiday. The planning committee just got together yesterday and we've come up with some stuff that should make this a great event. Also we are up to almost 40 people pre-registered. Cant wait to see everyone

Just a quick update, hotels should be announced by the end of the week as well as rate and contact info. Also in the next couple of weeks we should also have pricing for the dyno sessions. We are up to 42 MR2s so far! Cant wait to see everyone

OK, so unofficially:

If you pregister on the event website (the link is in the first post), you will be entered into a special drawing for a prize that will be raffled off at the meet. You must be present to win. More than likely it will be given away during the show-n-shine on Saturday or at the awards dinner/banquet that same night. The prize will be announced at a later date.

OK, at the moment, the mobile dyno may be coming from Melbourne. It looks like we need close to a minimum 20 people and pre-pay. The rate looks like it will be right around the $60 mark i believe for 2-3 pulls. The details are still coming out. I just wanted to give everyone a heads up on it. So if you are interested in the dyno please let us know! We are currently setting up a system to accept money for pre-registrations. We should have exact pricing for everything very soon. But again if you are interested in the dyno please let us know so we can start a list.

VENUE UPDATE

I just got off the phone with Tracy from Old Town (in Orlando), April 12th is open for us if we want. They would not charge us any parking or rental fees for the area. We would have the area from 9am until 2am that night (so the entire day) From the way she sounded she was excited that we even thought of them. They have never hosted a MR2 group there before and she thinks everyone would love our cars

She also gave me a contact and info for a hotel called the Seralago Hotel which is within walking distance of Old Town (if not right next to it, I havent mapped it out yet). This particular hotel is used to hosting car groups, also they are outside rooms/hall ways, so you park your car and/or trailer in front of your room, which I know I prefer when I'm out of town with my deuce. I'll post more when I talk to her again in the morning. Also I should have hotel prices for you as well.

Autocross Info Needed!
Are any of you central FL folk friends with organizers of autocross events in your area? We are looking into setting up a private autocross for our group and would like to rent the services and insurance of a group that is not hosting an event already that weekend. Otherwise it may be a little bit of a drive to the nearest running autox event. Thanks!
