Memphis Meet Saturday April 22nd
Well, the meet for April was pushed to Saturday the 22nd. Due to this weekend (April 14-16) being the Easter Holiday! We will meet at the same Sonic in Bartlett at the same time, 2pm (see evnts link for address http://msmr2.com/events.html ). If all goes according to plans, the RAPTOR should be there and back on the streets. If I have her there (very hopeful) I will run down the NEW and lost items (hehehe). But, I plan on being at the meet whether my MR2 is ready or not. So, everyone plan to attend as long as it is NOT raining nor storming. I'm praying for some NICE weather. Should also have some NEW folks there as well. Would like to see Ken C.'s NEW 350Z as well, maybe he will bring it out. The new guy, Jim, with the Liquid Silver Spyder that lives a few houses down from me said he will be there too. So, this should be a really good (and maybe BIG) meeting.
Hope to discuss future events such as... Paul Revere Rides, Car Shows, Track Day, and hopefully this year go to the Tupelo Automoblie Museum. Also, the Father's Day Itailian Car Show at the Pink Palace should make for a great meet. So, be sure to come on out and be a part, and feel free to add any IDEAS to the mix (such as autocross dates and other events). See y'all on the 22nd!!! Daniel ![]() |

Well, the RAPTOR is back on the street. Had to get Travis at Pro Auto Inc. in Memphis to fix me up. I already had all the parts assembled to do all this work. But, I could not get the primary cat off to get turbo off so I could replace the busted HFH. Tried all options mentioned here and by others and still could not get to the HFH. SO, called Travis and he told me to bring the MR2 in. He put it up on a lift and went to work on it. Pulled everything down to the exhaust manifold, took the EM off and had it machined straight (boy was it WARPED), put new EM gaskets on, put new HFH and HFHOE on, put turbo on, put a gutted out primary cat on and gutted the 2ndary cat, put on NEW A/C belt, Alt. belt, NGK bkr7e plugs (0.028 gap), new plug wires (and coil wire), new dist. cap/rotor, new fuel filter, flushed coolant and refilled with new collant and distilled water, and lubricated the squeeking clutch fork and replaced the clutch fork dust boot (i had it off trying to fix squeek).
Must say it is VERY NICE to crank the cold engine and NOT hear the loud clakity, clak of the EM leak. Engine seems real QUIET now, even with cats gone (I like the stealth mode--hehehe) Turbo seems to spool about 700-800 RPM's quicker and the engine feels REAL strong with all the new tune-up parts. Since the HFH was busted 6 months ago, while I was trying to fix that myself. I did manage to rebuild all 4 brake calipers, get the rotors turned, and install new shims and springs. Along with a set of EBC GreenSuff pads. Then flushed the old brake fluid out and filled with NEW Motorcraft Heavy Duty Brake fluid (did same with fluid to clutch system too). The brakes fell awesome now. Can't wait to try them out on a track or autoX. Now all I have left to do is put on the PolyBushing suspension kit from TwosRus that my lovely wife got me for Christmas. Put the 93T springs that I have on. And, get me a NEW set of struts and put them on (KYB AGX or if opporturnity for $$$ comes up get some Koni adjustables!). Then I will be in BIG business (may get some H&R or Eibach springs but need a little more $$$). But, after 6 months of NOT being able to drive MR2 and only cranking it occasionally while it was up on jack stands. I must say that it fells REAL GOOD to be driving the Raptor again. Even if the front struts are ALMOST completely worn out. See everyone at the Sonic tomorrow. Daniel |
