Intake vavles are within .5mm of each other
exhaust valves are all the same Stroke is 83mm as well as the other v6s (common ones) Rods to stroke ratio is at an amazing 1.8:1 which is the best amongst all the v6's (1.77 is the 3l's common again) The 5vz was a built TRD race engine used in the Offroad Racing Tacoma before it was released into production. 400hp and 8000rpm limit...... |

true on the AC. I did miss that this summer. I am looking forward to seeing finished product on all of these. VZ, MZ, LMNOP... I don't care which. I just want to see the whole enchilada up against the store bought monsters ( porsche, mustang, ferrari, etc.).

Theres a place in my town that handles custom hotrod AC lines, I showed them my MR2 & Avalon lines... they said no problem making me something for like $150ish total. If I wasn't going into winter, I'd jump on that ... perphaps I'll make it my winter project. I also need to replace one of the under-car hard lines, when I remvoed the 5S compressor... it had been cross threaded, thus owning it.
I've never tried, but it would be cool if a bracket could be made to somehow mount the 5S compressor to a V6 (whatever iteration you have). Oteck told me he looked at his 3MZ, and it wasn't possible.. but I've never bothered to look at my own setup yet. That would be sweet so that when you swap, you wouldn't need to uncharge a working system. |

^^^ Yeah, custom lines aren't a big deal at all. I had two new lines made up for my '86 MR2 earlier this Summer.. Dropped off the old lines, came back, gave them $90 and it was allll groovy.
And just use your 1MZ compressor (if you got one). It's newer than the old one off the 5S, and it's designed for use with R134. ![]() |

has anyone tried to use the 3.3 engine that was in the Solara and RX330 for a short while? is it even worth using in a swap?

Well the fact that the engine in my tacoma just went, i have to take the 5vz out of the mr2 to go into the tacoma because its my daily D so its a bit more importent...I hope to build up the dead 5vz in the tacoma and put it back into th e mr2 next year. So its gonna be a while.
As for the 3.3 3mz yea oteck has it in his car already and so do a couple others i think |

With the right tools and the knowledge of how to do (having done it before) dropping an engine isnt that bad. Once I have collected all my parts for my 1mz swap, I am hoping to complete the swap in a weekend. Grant it, that is a lot of prep but I would prefer to not be surprised by anything.
Also Weasy has said how difficult to find and expensive engines and such are up in Canada. Use what you go and replace it later. |

I voted 5vzfe becuz its bigger :P and i found a usa one ( egr = better gas milage!) with wiring intact! seriously thought between its and the 3vzfe its kinda give or take, very similar, and either one should have a turbo or 2 put on it :P just my .02 If i had found the usa 3vzfe wid wiring intact as i had wanted for a cool $600 id have been all over that one also, but dang a 5vzfe for $600 thats just too good of a deal! am i right?

With all the talk of the 5vzfes lack luster intake manifold, how similar is the 3vzfe unit as far as its ability to be swapped onto the the bigger engine? is the lower intake atleast the same?
