Karl,

Looks like the community is now using a Bosch part (BIP373) in place of the VB921's.

Bosch BIP373 Coil Driver Mod-Kit DIYAutoTune.com

The ECU plugs on the MZ look unlike anything GM I've ever seen, nothing like the GM weatherpack stuff anyway.

If you're using the igniter I am from the 95 Avalon, you're using the same igniter off the 2JZ/1JZ w/6-COP. It's my understanding, and don't quote me on this, those guys start having ignition issues past 500-600hp. That seems well within the goals and realistic abilities of most V6 MR2 owners

Looking at those wheel shots Mrdosedriver717 posted, doesnt look like it would lend very well for the GM DIS setup? Too bad the MZ wasn't like the UZ, those guys ignition wheels are seperated from the timing belt cog and they're constantly making new/different wheels on those motors.

oh i know. i'm wondering if it's similar enough to the OBD2 honda stuff, since i have a couple of those lying around to scavenge plugs from to make a jumper harness. i already have the GM connectors. the OBD1 honda and toyota stuff used the same connectors, i'm hoping for some luck with the OBD2 stuff..

Well, its been awhile since I've worked on an OBDII Honda. I believe they're all square in shape and 4 row right? The earlier 1MZ are rounded on the top.. and here it's just easier to show you:

The Gimpy Gallery :: SCC V6 Swap Article :: s14

Picture of the plugs, second time I've used this in a week!!!! wow.

Talking 1MZ T running fine on MS

My 1MZ is running great on the MSnS. Thank you so much for all help provided. You guys are the best.
Car run for several hours now, only glitches are the occasional reset (easy to solve), valve shimming ( I have 3 exhaust valves that need correction) and a mild oil leak in the turbo(don't ever NEVER buy second grade rebuild kits/GASKETS). I even got brave and drove it around the block.
Zero boost for now until I finish adjusting the VE and spark tables.
It idles at 900 rpm (not idle control set yet) and is very smooth. Rev all the way up without problems.
Million thanks to gimpster for the final push in the right direction.
If I feel that all systems are OK, I will take it to the LI gathering next weekend in Long Island.

Help with tachometer

Everything works fine. But I never connected my tach, and now I can't figure where to get my signal from.
I have both solara and mr2 boards for the cluster, but before taking that apart, I would like to be sure where I get the signal from.
On the 1mz ecu would be E8-27 going to EA3-5.
But I can't see it on MS.

Sorry for the slow reply.

I used the igniter for tach out. Both 3-COP and 6-COP systems have an unused tach output that works just dandy. Prefered that to wasting an output on the MS.

Your welcome, and I hope other people find it useful too. This was a fun project.

I'm actually starting a nearly identical article for 3S-GTE owners, since thats what I have powering the MR2

jetkit, if you see this... hows your project coming along? Did you get it tuned up well?

Are you still going to finish a complete write up since you sold the car now?

Well, I think if you read the entire thread all of the information is there. I'm not sure if I could do a formal writeup anymore since the car is several hundred miles away and its been months since I've worked on it I know that jetkit has gotten his car to run with the information and calibrations posted in this thread.

If theres anything you need to know specifically, please ask and i'll dredge it from my memory somehow.

ZachAttack, it will actually get posted up on diyautotune for all to see!

Car is great. I can't believe how good it runs. I used it only a few times after Bear Mountain, and is now stored for the winter.
I made some contacts that could yield a decent tuneup, but I want to replace the NA exhaust first.

If this write up is any more specific, it would be no fun.
Gimpster is a genius on giving you enough information to tease but not spoiling the feeling of accomplishing something.

Shame not to keep this on the go.

Great to see others installing and running megasquirt on toyota's

my 1st experience installing and running ms1 ecu loaded with msextra code 0249 back in 2006 showed great promise on toyota celica GT4 3SGTE.

ms2 ecu loaded with ms2extra code is even better , well worth it , no other ecu is as cost effective for spec, function, control, price.
