2001 Avalon 1mzfe wiring question
I'm getting ready to wire this v6 up and wondering if that E11 pin 24 ADJ1 grounding trick will work for the manual tranny?
On my harness, E11 24 and 23 are two wires (green & red) twisted together going to the Electronically controlled transmission solenoid.. the harness comes from a 2001 avalon auto tranny ...also, my motor and harness didn't come with the E7 and E8 connectors, I need these don't I ?? |

Not sure which connectors those are but there is 2 that you need that wouldnt come with the engine harness cause they are part of the chassis harness that goes to the ecu but you need them also. And no you cant do that trick withthem cause none of the 1mz vvti motors came with a manual

So what do I do about the auto trans ecu in a manual trans car?
E7 and E8 run from the ecu to the interior (I believe) |

Look at your Toyota EWD for the 2001 Avalon. Does it even have the M/T ground pin on the ECU? Was the 2001 Avalon VVTI or non-VVTI?
I sourced my ECU from a 1MZ car that had the M/T option, so the ECU was pinned out for it. I had to add a wire to the harness (A/T harness, no ADJ pin), but it works perfectly fine. |

there has to be a way to remove all the immobilizer stuff and still use this ecu.. what about the tranny tho? is there a way to trick the ecu into thinking the trans is auto? or is it going to be in limp mode?

Is it a VVTI motor or not? If not, just get an ECU from a car that had M/T as an option (and ground the ADJ pin) and without immobiliser.

It is a vvti motor, 2001 avalon.. I dont even have the EWD for the avalon. I'm using the EWD form the solora of the same year. Guess it would be wise to have the EWD for the avalon...imma hunt that down now

You have two options with the ECU codes. 1. Ignore them. (it won't cause any performance problems) (If you don't hook up the evap system you won't get ride of the codes anyway.) 2. Do the following to get ride of codes: P1705 E8 Pin 9 and E8 Pin 4 need to be connected to the cruise control. This should simulate the Direct Clutch Speed Sensor. It has to get some sort of pulse rather than just a resistance value. (I've not hooked this up yet, so far I'm living with the code) E4 Pin 19 (SNL-) and 20 (SNL+) should have a 10 ohm resistor between them. I think this should be a 50 watt resistor. The following pins should have a 15 ohm 25 watt resistor between EACH pin and ground. E4 Pin 7 (S1) E6 Pin 1 (S2) E6 Pin 15 (SL) These pin numbers are for a 2000 Avalon ECU. I know the wiring harness is the same for 2000 - 2004 Avalon, so it should work for you. |
