Automatic V6 swap
I'm looking to do a 3VZ swap on an automatic 5sfe (picked up the car cheap). There are tons of threads on swapping the 3VZ in, but I can't find any that also deals with swapping in the automatic tranny. I wish I could have it manual but all the junk yards around me only carry the engines with the auto trans. Is it at all possible to include the automatic transmission from the 3VZ into my swap?

Ummm.....where are you? The reason no one is using an autotragic is cause I don't think anyone makes shift kits for them. Stock automatic is not ideal for performance. Maybe a custom torque convertor?

Go for it man! You could probably use your stock AT - If the 3VZ bolts up to the manual trans, it has to be the same bolt pattern for the Auto- at least you would think so..
It would be a very unique swap! |

Just as long as it all fits afterwards. That would be really nice. I'm sure the transmission will go on a hard launch but what a way to go. Well I can get the automatic transmission with it I mean well it all fit in the engine bay. I know I'm going to get some camry axles and have them machined.

why not just pick up an MR2 manual tranny to mount up to it. It's an easy swap and you'll be happier and not have to deal with a swap no ones done.

I'm from PA. I've only seen a handful of MR2's in the last couple of years. It's about as hard for me to find and get parts for my auto n/a mr2 as it is for some of you guys to get beams parts. There are tons of rear ended camry's in the junk yard that have all the parts for a 3vz swap. Swapping an engine is enough work as it is; I know it's not as hard but doing a manual to auto conversion, isn't really worth it too me. I prefer driving stick but I'm not too fanatical about it.

Would be neat if you can rig the auto tranny to the paddle shifter on the is300 wheel

so, any updates on this?
does anyone know if it's possible to just use the entire engine/auto-tranny combo from a camry or avalon? are the trans mounts the same? |
