1mzfe swap ecm

i'm a newb to this forum, but not to toyota and i need some help. i bought a 91 n/a mr2 and am swapping a 1mz in place of the 5s. i have acces to three ecu's. i have a 99 sienna ecu, the avalon ecu that i took the motor out of and a solara 5spd ecu. my question is how do i get around the immobilizer (if possible) or what part number do i buy that doesn't have immobilizer. wiring is not a problem, i just need the correct part that wont give me too much hassle. thanks in advance

you can try the solara ecu BUT you need to match the harness to the ecu. to remove the immobilizer you can have it sent out to be flashed

On the two ECU's I bought, (99 Camery & 00 Solora) I called a friendly dealer I use and gave em the part #'s and found I had two non-immobilzer ECU's....

Here's a list of every ECU. Find the part numbers of your ECUs in the list and see.

Avalons always had immobilizers after 1997 or 1998 as standard equipment (just like the Lexus ES300), as did Solara SLEs (coupe and convertible, A/T only). Camrys were more hit or miss than these two, as were Solara SE V6s.

And the reason the parts number thread exists is so you can add your part number and tell everyone if it's equipped with an immobilizer or not.

immobilizer

i found someone on ebay that'll reflash the ecu. about immobilizer or nonimmobilizer, i was talking to my parts guy and checking the toyota website at work and found out that some of the ecus are the same part number with or without. they come ready to accept a code when new, but could be installed in car without immobilizer. to get out of the mode you would have to cycle the key five times off to on. so it's true, the part number has nuthin to do with it in many cases.
i had to reset someones ecu that lost their keys and it went into code accept mode. i wonder if i installed my ecu into one of those cars and reset immobilizer it would work once i exit the code accept mode with a non chip key.
