3VZ block bored to 3.4L with 5VZ heads?

I've been thinking about this for awhile now, and am curious if anyone has bored a 3VZ block to the 5VZ 93.5 mm (making it a 3.4L)? Will the 5VZ heads fit on to the 3VZ block? Is the exhaust flange the same as the 5VZ?

As you can probably tell, I'm interested in building up a 3VZ block and migrating over my 5VZ components. The main reason I would like to do this is so that I can have a reliable method to mount the AC compressor while also getting a built block out of it.

Any comments, ideas, suggestions? Thanks!

i imagine they are totally different, the exhaust flange on the 3vz is squarish but they do share the same intake flange. your best bet is to compare HG and see if the holes lines up

I've been looking for pictures of either the short blocks or of the HG's. Can't seem to find anything helpful.

Well I used some better search terms, and found this thread http://www.mr2.com/forums/mk-2-v6/To...ads-5vzfe.html. Looks like my dreams of easy bolt on AC have disappeared lol. Back to needing a custom AC bracket. At least I can still get a built block lol.

Hehe, good thinking, but they don't run off 12VDC. They're 100-200 something VDC. There is a company that people who build homemade electrical cars buy from that makes a 12VDC compressor, but it pulls around 40amps, and it costs over $1K. Blehhhhh.....

Are the cylinder walls of the 3vz thick enough to bore them over to achieve a 3.4L displacement?

I'm not sure, but the problem is that none of the oil galleys or coolant passages match up for the 5VZ heads to fit on the block.

What's the advantage of using the 5vz heads?
