That "90 degree inlet Y-pipe" would be handy for merging under the oil pan, but it doesn't look like a very smooth merge.

These guys Welcome to Verocious Motorsports - A Provider of High Performance Automotive Exhaust Components have 1.875" narrow radius U-bends for reasonable prices. I used a 1.875" x 2.5" center line radius U-bend (from Burns Stainless) to make my Y-pipe. These guys don't have that, but they do list a 1.875" x 1.875" CLR.

I made this for my 3vz. copied a 45mm diameter one by a guy on Twobrutal.
Anyway, this is 2" diameter merging into a 3" diamater. The 3" then fits up to a Motoria rear silencer Its pretty much equal length too.... ![]() |

Emissions Test Results
I finally made it down to the MD emissions station today. My tags were suspended because the test was due on 7/2009. My intention was to go down there, pay the ridiculous fine, fail the test to buy some time, have the tag suspension lifted, and throw some catalyic converters on her next week.
It must be my lucky day because all of the late fees were waived - I had to pay $14, and the car passed! Tail pipe test, Idle & 2500 rpms 194 ppm HC (State Limit 200ppm) 0.19% CO (State Limit 1%) I have a dual exhaust setup flowing through one OEM Buick Regal muffler. The only problem is that at high rpm, it sounds like the muffler is going to blow apart. It has that open exhaust/tin sound which I absolutly despise. I'm going back to the exhaust shop tomorrow for a "X" cross over muffler which I am hoping sounds better. I'll post some pics and video when its finished. ![]() Last edited by Fabulousj79; 03-01-2010 at 05:11 PM.. Reason: image too hard to read |

14 bucks? Perhaps you should go buy a lottery ticket.

Do you guys meet in Rockville? I went down there once before I tore it down last year before the swap.
I was very surprised it passed - you can smell raw fuel when standing behind it! My tach is a little off too - haven't got the adjustment perfect yet - so it was probably running a little lower than 2500 rpms. They used to do the treadmill test which looks for NOX but the guy said MD doesn't do the treadmill anymore. If I were on the treadmill, there would have been no way I would have passed. My fav part of the emissions form is at the bottom: Catalytic Converter Check - PASS. lol The inspection mirror in the booth had a 1/4" of dust on it. |

Dual Exhaust, X Muffler, No Cats - Pics
This setup is a little loud, but it sounds pretty good. I think the exhaust guys did a pretty good job. The one pipe that does go underneath the crossmember was flattened for more clearance. It has a very "throaty" sound and is very loud at high rpm. Unfortunately, I have developed a wrist pin noise in cylinder #1, so there won't be any videos until I replace the piston and rod. I'm going to jump on that ASAP because I'm not getting stuck driving my F250 for another summer!
It was a funny sight watching all three of the guys at the exhaust shop standing underneath the car with a very puzzled look on their face when I first pulled it in. The owner of the shop said "and I'm supposed to put an exhaust where?" I responded with - If this was going to be easy, I would have done it myself, that is why I'm here. ![]() The brown spot on the exhaust is a plastic bag I must have picked up in my travels. It scared the bahjesus out of me at first - I thought the wiring harness was melting. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I have a custom y pipe and a magnaflow intended for a z28 V8. Plenty of flow, and sounds burbly at low rpms, nice scream at wot. Gets lots of positive remarks from people. Loud enough to keep the deer out of the way, hopefully.

Anyone seen this exhaust?
Its on a Ferrari conversion but made by these guys in Bristol, UK. sounds very good. I want to go with something like this. How much would it cost to get one of these custom made @ an exhaust shop? |

Let's talk exhausts again. I'm stuck in between that red MR2 Ferrari custom exhaust above and building a custom one that sounds like the 350z stock exhaust in this video below
Out of all the youtube V6 MR2 videos Ive seen so far, this guy seems to have come close to recreating the 350Z sound when the car is going down the road. I believe. Check it out... NOW as for me, I used to own a g35 coupe & loved the stock exhaust. At one time I had the Berk HFC & HR Y Pipe installed & it sounded GOOD! My question: How hard would it be for an exhaust shop to: 1. recreate an exhaust setup either like that red MR2 Ferrari above this post for my 1MZFE MR2? (Keep in mind I'll drive it NA for a while & turbo it shortly afterward) or 2. Recreate an exhaust setup like the 350z/G35 stock exhaust but made to fit our MK2 cars? What kind of price should I expect to pay for a custom system of this caliber? Basically I'm looking for a system that features: - A high flow cat for emissions - A couple resonators to keep the sound civil & quiet until WOT driving of course!!! Thanks in advance guys Last edited by tiguy99; 03-24-2011 at 06:12 PM.. |

I have another idea guys let me know what you think.
I still have my old Invidia Gemini titanium tip exhaust from my G35. If I took just the axel back muffler to an exhaust shop, do you guys think could they retrofit just that part on my MR2 with A high flow cat, Y-pipe & a couple resonators? The Invidia Gemini axel back muffler looks like this ![]() ![]() Here's what the exhaust sounded like on my old car.... Please ignore the wind in the first video What do you guys think about this idea? |

Best idea would be to ask the company if they could sell you the mufflers/resonators that they used for those Ferrari kitted MR2s. I like the tone, it's got a nice pitch but it's nowhere near raw or loud enough for me.
To me, if this could be replicated I would buy it in a heartbeat: The exhaust in question: ![]() It weighs 5.4 kg and I would buy it in a heartbeat and retrofit if it weren't so friggin ugly, and then I don't like single exits either ![]() |

Here's what a magnaflow sounds like. With a 1MZ V6. Oh yeah, laptop speakers will not do justice to the sound. Last edited by TheDoctor; 04-22-2011 at 02:03 PM.. |
