ANyone know how to control exhaust notes?
What effect does; shirinking the exhaust tueb then enlarging back to size, larger diamter tube (kinda like a ho9llow cat), bends do?

    SpinTech

Anyone ever heard a spintech muffler or considered it for an MR2 application? Supposedly flows quite well with great sound reduction, but it's hard to tell from their website. Just wondering.

Not sure if i got your question right, but a hollowed cat makes a lot of turbulence and resonance, bad both sound and performance.

Generally what you want to do to make a less noisy system, is to have a bend right after a silencer box. This creates a higher pressure in the damper, and more noise "trapped" inside the box.

My engine is raspy for sure, BUT, numerous people have said that it actually sounds like a Ferrari.

Unless I get on it, low RPM's sound more like a throaty muscle car, but that doesn't last long once the throttle gets pressed down.

My plan is to take the 350z exaust. Cut off the stock mufflers and custom weld an exaust back from both tips. I plan to cut out the y pipe until i want to turbo. Just not sure what the ecu is going to do about not having a ypipe. (i don't plan to ahve the cylinders meet).

If im not terribly mistaken, i believe Ferrariengines fire 2 sylinders at the same time. Think this is what makes the "Ferrarisound", and kinda difficult to copy :P

They also reworked the exhasut...infact spent millions to make it work right...
im not trying to replicate it but it just asked that to see what kind of things they did to the ehxaust to do it...

I was planning on getting a 350z muffler too..i dont think its to wide.

Weasly an mkii guy of mine is turboing. He is going to use the 350z exaust only problem is it is kinda tight. He says it doesn;t look good. You will need to cut and reweld to make it fit and look right. Its just a narrow exaust.

Well, I have a Turbo muffler, if that's what you are asking. Beyond that, HELL no. That would suck.

    I have an all-stainless exhaust: headers, b-pipe w/flex, y-pipe, flex, Turbo muffler.

the o2 sensor placement doesnt matter...as long as one is before the cat and one is after( if nee dbe) then its fine.
I am going to stick with the turbo muffler for this year.
    Will make osmething after

That's a bad idea. You'll loose scavaging that the staggared pulses provide and loose power as well as be ridiculously loud and ****ty sounding (I've heard a true dual mr2 1mz... it didn't stay that way for long for a reason.) You need to at least have an X pipe in there.

Ahhh ok i will forget that idea then. I was just planning to save a little cash. I will do the X pipe then. I just don't like taking two pipes to 1 and then back to 2 seems ineffiecent to me.
