Ok, I'm going to attempt a 5VZ swap since my 3S locked up yesterday...

The kicker is...I'm going to try to stay around or under $1k...

More info soon...!

If you already have the engine I see no reason why you cannot, wiring is free, borrowing engine hoists etc is free. Altho you will use more than a dollar worth of metal for the engine mount technically so im gunna guess you have beg borrow or steal some
Good luck, im sure you can do it.

Just be careful. The little things like hose clamps, fittings, fuel lines, etc etc add up quick. It really took me by surprise when I did mine since it was the first time that I've ever attempted something like this. Good luck though!

Werd.

I tried to keep mine under 5,000USD. Soon, the challenge came to keep it under 10k...

What happens here is you end up having a car with a half finished swap sitting for a couple years.

Seriously, if you can't fund at least double your projected cost, don't even bother opening the can of worms.

I found a place that sells any V6 for $125 as long as you pull it yourself (not a problem) and I have all the necessary skills needed to perform the swap...found a MS for $200, but I'm really considering not using it due to problems pointed out by thwam... I have access to multiple mechanics including one who specializes in MR2's and one who is considered a 'master mechanic'...also I could just call up Harry (MR2Guru) if I ran into too many problems.

I am quite interested in this place!

I'd rent a Uihaul and stock up.

Agreed. Although I was seriously trying to keep my car under the 5k mark and have something that runs... I could've got it done though if I had my own garage and work didn't sap up all my time by continuously rotating my schedule so I sleep whenever I'm off.

But it's been 2 years of delays and setbacks, so I have an accumulated mess of parts. I think I kept buying parts just to continually renew my interest. But they will all be in the car by the end of summer because I have 2.5 months of vacation time saved and I plan on using it.

Then, the hard part... What do I do for my next project?

Haha it's taken me 2 years for a 5VZ swap, I wonder how long THAT would take me.

Well, I'm not opening up the engine unless I really think I have to. (well, I'm pretty sure I'll be changing the headgasket and headstuds) It will be a straight-forward swap...no power adders or anything...
