Who has any experience with a standalone ECU on his 5VZ?
I am concidering to get one, as I am getting a little sad of the original A/T ECU which came with my engine. I have also the TRD SC with 7th injectorkit on my engine ( 7th injector not connected yet) and i also like to use the cruisecontroll and A/C again when switched to another standaloneECU... Another question: What can be the max number of revs possible on the stock 5 VZ?..... Who can advice me with this? and where to get ![]() John |

Well pretty much any standalone that you get is going to have to be a custom deal. ie no plug n play AEM or Nemesis. Therefore, pretty much any EMS will work. You'll just have to read through the wiring diagrams and match up the harness to your EMS.
As far as what the max rev limit should be on the 5VZ, I have mine set for 6500, but it really depends on what your torque curve looks like. If you hit peak torque and then your torque falls off, then a lower limit will be better. If torque doesn't fall off, then I've heard that people will rev the motor out to 6500-7000rpm. Weasy of Sea2Sky Tuning has mentioned that valve float is very likely soon after the 5500rpm stock redline on these motors, so that's something to take into consideration as well. Todd |

EMS
I found this site, I guess this can be usefull for you guys overthere as well
http://www.linkecu.com/products/engi...4-plug-in-ecus @ Todd, I don't have pictures yet, but i was inspired by pics here in this forum. I want to place the compressor near to the oilpan, beneath the intermediate-axle. I want to make a sub-bracket where i can bolt on the original 5VZ bracket to. i want to use the boltholes in the engineblock there, which now ar in use by the intermediate axle support. This support will be weld on the bracket as well. Profit in this that there is also a possebility to adjust the drivebelt, and the belt is running on the outer ( smaller) ring of the crankshaftpuley. I used an orirganl 5VZ compressor because it is smaller than the 5S compressor. This all is a project which will take place in the winter, as I don't drive the car then. I will post pics as soon as I have them........ John |

I suppose that's one way to do it, but I'm thinking you're going to have to really lower the compressor to clear the axle and then also route all the lines there. I plan on putting mine on the other side of the engine where the 3S compressor sits, but drop it down next to the oil pan. I'll probably need to use an oil filter relocator due to where the filter sits on the block. But this way I can reuse the stock AC lines.

I'm going for the Solaris on mine (Welcome to the Solaris web site) on mine. Ryan from 2Bar Tuning will be wiring, fitting and mapping it all in.
If you can get to the UK, it might be worth you coming over for a mapping setup!? |
