Wanted 91-94 Auto Trans MR2 w/ T Top

My only other request is that it has less than 100K miles on it. If anyone knows of an MR2 for sale that meets this criteria please let me know. Thanks guys.

VERY few MK2's were sold with automatic trans, and only the NA came w/ the auto.

If you don't know how to drive manual, I suggest you learn. The auto is a piece of crap.

The auto is just fine, thank you.

Good luck in finding one, they are very rare.

I have yet to drive one, but I have heard nothing but sluggish and bleh-. Plus it ruins all the fun of driving.

Sunroof car

I know where a near-immaculate sunroof 1991 black one is that the owner will sell, but for a little higher than I wanted to pay. pm me if interested.
it's in louisiana. I recall it has ~72k miles or so.

Where are you located? I have a 91 hardtop auto FS. But it has 168xxmi. I did a tune-up right when I got it a few months ago. Auto isn't sluggish at all. I preffer 5 spd, but auto is actually cheaper, so that was all I could get at the time.

Thanks for the replies. Harris, I'm in Boston so I'll pass. David, thank you but I will have to pass as well.

I don't know too much about the nuances of cars, but is it possible to get a regular 5 Spd with the T Top and just buy an auto trans and have a car place switch it? How much does that cost?

You can easily swap the trans. The trans itself is going to cost the most. It will be around $200-400 depending on where you get it. I don't know how much labor would cost. Most people swap auto to 5 spd. You can look around, read the write-ups people have done for the auto to 5spd swap, and figure out how to reverse it. Shouldn't be too hard.

You can have my auto trans free (absolutely everything from my car) depending on how soon you need this by. I'm swapping my auto to 5spd (complete engine swap) in the fall. I live in Toronto, and wouldn't be opposed to meeting somewhere near the border if you are game. Just noticed its a 7hr haul to the border near me, perhaps Montreal as its closer? Let me know.

Ctrueman, very much appreciated but I wouldn't make you exert yourself.

So I'd need to plan on let's say $400 for buying a new auto transmission and any guesses on labor? $1k?

Are there any downsides to switching the trans other than all you manual lovers hating me? =)

Also do a craigslist search... I occasionally search for an auto one with <100k miles to get just for summer banging around then building the subie to be the performance hog.

Lower MPG, and much more sluggish/laggy speed compared to a manual due to the gearing of the auto is all. Also the gauge clusters are different.

I am curious as to why you'd want an auto?

I'd prefer auto for daily bumper to bumper traffic.

My MR2 is auto, bought it in very nice condition for a pretty cheap price, was hoping to 5spd swap, but I always found myself replacing other stuff.....Bottom line, it's not all bad as long as you have fun with it.... This is how I have fun with mine
