His car is worth somewhere between $4-8k I just popped on autotrader and thats what they run in my area. $8k being IMMACULATE. MR2 turbos in my area range from $6k-$20k I can't believe there is one on there for $6k accually.. the next one is around $10k. Good luck on your trade, but be careful, because if someone is willing to take a $2-4k hit, there might be a lot of problems with their car.
P.S. I'm not flaming, trying to offer advice. |

For 10k that better be one pristine 93.
If its a 91/92 that thing better be modded to the teeth. The prices for these cars is ridiculous. I hate how people just think they can charge an arm and a leg. 4500-6500 is fair for a 91/92 depending on mileage and condition and mods 6000-9000 for a 93 is fair depending on mileage and condition and mods 8000-11000 is about what a good 94 goes for and 10000+ is about what you can expect to pay for a good 95. All prices above are for the turbo model. Thats about the average of the country right about now. |

Ya those blue book values are way off for mr2s than the market is.
Most of us arnt flaming, this is juss how we talk around here, so if you dont like it then I DONT think youll like mr2 owners, you may think you wolnt need them but go ahead and think that. Who cares whats faster or slower than your car? Yours is a 1998, lets go to japan and see the 1998 mr2's there. then you can compare them. About 50hp more than american version. Dont they run high 13's over there? I hate how people compare newer cars to older, it doesnt make any sense. As years progress you know what happens. btw..in my opinion its sounds like a stang owner to me ![]() |

not flaming also, but take the lincoln against a turbo 2 on a curvy road. the lincoln wouldnt stand a chance, even against a non turbo 2 in the corners.
like everyone else says, sell your car then use that money to buy something else. |

It's funny you guys are actually justifying how an MR2 would compare to a Lincoln, performance-wise. ![]() |

Come on guys, no need to scare future MR2 owners away!
Although, I do seem to remember some drivers hitting 15.8 seconds in the 1/4 mile in stock NAs... |

You can put an intake on both of these vehicles to help improve air flow to effectively increase the power output, but its alot easier to put a $20 boost controller on the mr2 versus the lincoln.... then go and compare the cars.

So, are you looking to build a Fast and the Furious car?
I'd suggest something like a 240 or a Civic then. |

I think he likes the uniqueness of the mr2. And I think he knows that mr2s > civics and the like.

Obviously most have not driven a 98 Mark VIII LSC
Some of you obviously have not driven a 98 Mark VIII LSC. I had two different Mark VIII LSC in 98 and early 99 and they were a blast to drive. They were great highway hole shot cars with lots of power, sounded great, and had a great ride. And I wasn’t an old man then or now. One is a luxury muscle car and the other is a two seat light and small sport car. Both are fun in their own way.
Now I would agree that a Toyota MR2 forum loaded with MR2 loyalists may not be the receptive audience for a MK8 LSC trade, but I give him credit for asking. |

"no my car plus cash and he has a deal. I shoot for the stars, it could happen"
Your car is worth AT LEAST $6k and I mean at the very very least, whereas I wouldnt expect a 98 Lincoln Mk8 to sell for more than $5k. So if you're willing to trade your $7k+ car and cash on top of that for a $5k car Ill take you up on that offer immediately, lol. Just let me go find a Lincoln Mk8. Ill probably trip over a few on the way to work tomrrow. "I hate how people just think they can charge an arm and a leg." That's because they can. The MR2 is a rare enthusiast car. Here on LI, '91 N/As start at around $4k and turbos start at around $7k. And if I want a nice '93 Turbo, if there even is one on Long Island, I would expect to pay over $10k for it. |
