This event held the biggest turn out to date for the Pacific NW MR2 Club. There
was a total of ten MR2's that got together to make the fun run from St. Johns's to Astoria
and beyond. Six mark II's and four mark I's. Thanks go out to Robert and Janet Beale for
the planning and execution of this fine, fun filled event.
The day started with nine MR2's (Robert Beale, Ken Blake, Meg Crocker, Rob
Griffiths, Jim Hansen, Dana Jensen, Karl Shepard, Jim Swart, Michael Wilkens) leaving St.
Johns around 9:30am. We traveled West on Hwy 30, through Scappoose and St. Helens.
Crossed over into Longview, Washington to pick up another "2" (Tam Tran). After about
twenty minutes of looking over each other's cars and getting to know one another a bit
more, it was back on the road. Staying on the Washington side, we drove along the
Columbia river. If you have never traveled this route, check it out, it is a nice ride. It
came time to cross back to Oregon. This was accomplished quite nicely by a refreshing
ferry ride back to Hwy 30. Approximately twenty minutes later and we all arrived safely in
the quaint town of Astoria. We parked at the Merritime Museum and made plans on
getting some grub. After lunch we headed to the "Column" and lined up the cars for some
nice photo oppurtunities.
